David Ermold sought the Democratic nomination in Tuesdays primary in Rowan County, Kentucky. His quest to challenge the woman who said Gods authority prevented her from giving him a marriage license inspired thousands from at least 48 states to donate more than $200,000 to his campaign.
But it wasnt enough to defeat Elwood Caudill Jr., a 20-year veteran of the Property Valuation Administrators office who works just across the hall from Davis. He ran a low-key campaign and has promised not to make gay marriage an issue in the general election.
What happened in 2015 is in the past and just as my logo says, were just focused on the future, Caudill said.
Ermold didnt speak to news outlets Tuesday. He and his now-husband were one of several gay couples who tried to get licenses from Davis after the ruling. A video of the encounter was viewed more than 1.8 million times on YouTube.

(82,849 posts)Apparently, there were four candidates competing for the Democratic nomination for this office. Kim Davis switched parties back to the Republicans, and won the nomination in a walkover. But I can't find actual vote results, which probably isn't surprising for such a minor office.
Yes, David Ermold didn't win the primary, but that's not for lack of trying. We're not going to win every time, but let's keep battling. Both Davis and Elwood Caudill Jr. would like marriage equality to go to the back burner as an issue in the general election, but that happens only if we give up. Let's show some voting power in November, and turn Kim Davis out of office.

(100,060 posts)I would love to tell the bigots to go fuck themselves, and getting Kim Davis out of office is definitely a step toward that!

I doubt anyone cares in KY anymore, either. Just Kim Davis and her preacher.
