Where is Ringo Starr’s father?

He left the family when Ringo was a very small child. Nothing is been heard of him since. I have googled and can’t find anything.

Since Ringo will be 78 this year, it is 99.9% certain that his father is dead. But I can’t understand why no enterprising journalist ever looked him up. I kind of suspect he died long ago, otherwise he would’ve probably shown up when Ringo hit the big time.

Because of Ringo’s fame, and how everybody can find anybody these days, I don’t understand why someone hasn’t at least figured out what happened to him.

The great Beatles biographer, he saw Ringo at a family event (grandparents funeral?) right before the Beatles become famous. Apparently did not turn up with his hand out later, unlike John's long-lost father.
