Schumer tweeted earlier:
"Today @NancyPelosi & I will be sending a letter to Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein & FBI Director Wray later today to request they reconsider holding a meeting at all, and if they do move forward, to do so in a bipartisan fashion, with the Gang of 8."
What do they do when they receive it?
Should get very interesting. Can someone shake Mitch McConnell and wake him up ??

(2,091 posts)....where the hell is the spine in Congress?
Trump is understandable....he wants to preserve his power. Congress has no spine. They are refusing to stand up to this and this makes them enablers

(2,091 posts)They are saying the meeting shouldn't happen.
But they want to be in the meeting.
Better to protest the meeting with a sit in or something than to validate it by wanting to be there!

(43,058 posts)vociferous letter since it's not being made public.
The thought has crossed my mind that they are to some extent humoring Trump, stringing him along, because they have a good idea where this is all headed. IOW from the get-go it's been a sting operation. But I'll believe it if and when we see any substantive results.

(14,488 posts)This seems to force Justice personnel into a political decision and it should not be placed in that position. Congress should uphold the tradition of conducting any investigation in a bipartisan manner and those trying to violate those norms should be censored.
That said, and if I'm correct, the Justice Dept. personnel would be entirely within their duty to refuse this request from Nunes. Perhaps that is what Nancy is trying to suggest.
Of course in this bizarro world of Repug control, all norms, rules and laws are subject to their daily whims.

Rosenstein is Mueller's boss. Republicans need to tell Trump not to fire him.

(14,488 posts)Just trying to understand the formalities and traditions as to how this normally proceeds, although these are not normal times by any means.
I have no doubt the majority of Americans want this investigation to proceed and without hindrance from tRump and his minions. However, I fear that McConnell always follows Reagun's 11th commandment and will never throw negative light on any Republican, no matter how evil they are.
