Let's assume that there were a spy in Trump's campaign...

What was he doing?

What kind of information was he looking for?

How could this information have been used to sabotage Trump?

What is there to spy on in a campaign except plans for future events, strategies for future messaging, and email-lists of prospective voters?

WHAT USEFUL INFORMATION COULD THIS SPY POSSIBLY DELIVER TO THE "DEEP-STATE"???

I would be much more surprised if there was a Democrat spying on the Trump campaign than I would be with a Russian spy on their inside.

While the "spy" that we know about at this point (Stefan Halper) was a longtime Republican... he was interviewed just before the election and admitted that Clinton would be better on foreign policy (his specialty).

But that isn't the interesting part...

... the interview was on Sputnik.

If we start with the assumption that it was a political act rather than a national security program... then there are any number of things apart from strategy that could be useful.

For instance - the vetting process involved in considering people for senior positions is looking for skeletons in their closet that could harm the nomination. The opposing side would love to get a peek at that.

"The candidate's announced choice for VP has been having an affair with his undocumented nanny" certainly harms the candidate.

I can think of scores of possible examples... plus the campaigns often know the candidate's most vulnerable spots too.

His name is Papadopoulos! That guy was wearing a wire for months before we ever heard his name. That's where my money is at.
