(2,434 posts)swear I heard him say in one interview that both he and his client have several death threats. I'm sure some are more than credible. It takes courage to continue, no matter the end result. Much easier to cut and run.

(9,670 posts)And the recent revelation about his prior firm's bankruptcy debt was also curiously timed to diminish his stature and character.
We are witnessing one of the largest, if not the largest, criminal conspiracies of all time. It does not surprise me in the least that one of the most effective whistleblowers is now in the crosshairs of some of the most dangerous and callous people on the planet.
I worry for him. I know he's seemingly fearless, but the danger he's facing is beyond anything any of us could imagine.

(19,192 posts)I believe it has more to do with another partner of the law firm. The attorney in question doesn't even work for the firm anymore.
Duppers
(28,117 posts)...Mr. Avenatti's law firm was required to pay Mr. Frank $4.85 million, all of which was personally guaranteed by Mr. Avenatti."
Also..."Avenatti is the managing partner of Eagan Avenatti, according to court documents."
And..."In court filings involving the Daniels case, Avenatti has filed as an attorney with the Newport Beach law firm Avenatti & Associates, APC, based in California.
The State Bar of California still lists him as an attorney with Eagan Avenatti LLP, which is based at the same address as Avenatti & Associates in Newport Beach."
CNN has this wrong?
SergeStorms, I don't think you read the entire article.

(62,444 posts)Attorneys in most states have to file a form every year stating their current address, identifying certain bank accounts, and other information.
It's not like that stuff is updated in real time.
The "firm" indication is not particularly meaningful, but it will stay there until the next update. He lists both on his LinkedIn page.
Also, the other guy who is filing papers for Daniels in that case is Ahmed Ibrahim, who identifies himself as a partner of Eagan Avenatti:
https://www.linkedin.com/in/ahmed-ibrahim-88427131/
...and uses eaganavenatti.com as his email address for "Avenatti & Associates) in court filings:

(42,690 posts)That firm went into involuntary bankruptcy and, after the former attorney (who started out with a claim for $18 million) was acknowledged to have a claim for $10 million, the old bankrupt firm, Avenatti's new firm, and Avenatti personally entered into a settlement under which the former employee would get $4.85 million in two installments. Those payments were guaranteed by Avenatti personally.
When the payments were not made by the due date, the amount ballooned to $10 million pursuant to the express terms of the agreement. It's still not clear to me whether Avenatti is personally on the hook for all $10 million or just the $4.85 million. But he's definitely on the hook for at least $4.85 million and, pursuant to the terms of the agreement, has waived any right to challenge the award.

(1,702 posts)MONEY LAUNDERING. tRUMP settled for $10 Million. And for sure it wasn't his money he settled with.
Be prepared for LIES to be tossed around at Stormy and Avenatti. When even the lies approach the level of disgust that tRUMP family has done (is doing) I still will not give a fuck.
VOTE. If you don't, and Florida help the displaced Puerto Rican voters, register and VOTE...or we will get more of the same.

(28,117 posts)Yes I know know TRump is a million times corrupt and that this is coming out at the worst time but CNN is not reporting lies here. These are public court docs. Read the entire article.
If you find any of my previous posts about Avenatti, you'll see I'm not a troll - I sincerely loved the man even when his motives were being questioned by some here.

We badly needed his expertise to expose TRump, et al's crimes. He has publically given us more than anyone involved in this. I've been team "Basta" from the get-go but the CNN article was disturbing...and the release of this info now is suspicious.

Im puzzled by how the pursuit of justice, as you put it, involves sacrifice of ones livelihood.
Did Maureen Holland sacrifice her livelihood? Do you think anyone in power had issues with Thurgood Marshall?

(22,976 posts)1) Hes the attack-dog the Democrats dont have (maybe never had?), and he gets under 45s orange exoskeleton something fierce, which is one of the very few pleasures left in this Trumped-down darkness. So whats not to like?
2) Hes too perfect, too heaven-sent. A lone Hollywood attorney whos taking on all of Cult45. You can bet the farm that Repugs are digging everywhere to find something *anything* on him. They did turn up some lawyer-lawyer-business-flap lawsuit stuff, which is like oh, big deal these days. But I keep waiting for a shoe to drop somewhere. Something big enough to neutralize his presence.
3) Theres a distinct possibility that the Avenatti seen is the Avenatti you get, and that anxiety has gotten the better of me. Wouldnt be the first time.
