They are bragging about how openly corrupt this all is and that they are getting away with it

Holy hell. Trump's personal lawyer Emmet Flood attended the classified briefing where the DOJ presented evidence from its investigation into Trump. This is such an incredible abuse of power.

White House lawyer Emmet Flood attended the classified briefing where the DOJ presented evidence from its investigation into Trump—in other words, where they discussed classified evidence about his client.

Holy shit. It's confirmed.

Trump's PERSONAL lawyer attended the classified briefing on the investigation.

This is beyond abuse of power.

It's flat out corruption.

meaning he represents the institution of the White House, not the president personally. Be that as it may, he still shouldn't have been there.

...but there aren't any meaningful walls between the WH function Flood is charged with and his personal defense (except, maybe in court). It's a bs distinction. Cobb, the person he replaced, wasn't barred from talking to Trump defense lawyers.

"Although Cobb does not personally represent the president, he has functioned as a critical point person for Mueller's document and interview requests, co-ordinated dealings with prosecutors and worked closely with Trump's personal lawyers."

doesn't apply to communications between Trump and Flood because Trump isn't Flood's client. That's how John Dean was able to testify about the conversations he had with Nixon.
