...clearly there to serve as Trump's eyes on evidence which could implicate the president in crimes or misconduct, WH Counsel Emmett Flood was allowed to give a small speech to the group about the need for 'openness' instead.

@PressSec: Neither Chief Kelly nor Mr. Flood actually attended the meetings but did make brief remarks before the meetings started to relay the Presidents desire for as much openness as possible under the law.

(8,138 posts)There's just too much ridiculousness to absorb.
People talk about "societal norms" and "having faith in the system" and "respecting the process", but it's all totally out the window.
Trump has opened up a new online business selling his crap LAST YEAR- WHILE HE IS PRESIDENT. And there is blatant and constant lying, trying to subvert the justice system, violations of security clearances, and on and on.
I don't know if Louise mensch is right about him already being indicted but he sure damn needs to be.
CRAZY!

(7,402 posts)This was a Congressional hearing on oversight of the intelligence services so this is a breach of separation of power. Having Kelly and Flood address this group inserts inappropriate intimidation into the proceedings.
