The feds lost - yes, lost - 1,475 migrant children

The Trump administration recently announced a new, get-tough policy that will separate parents from their children if the family is caught crossing the border illegally.

It was a big news story. So big it overshadowed the fact that the federal government has lost – yes, lost – 1,475 migrant children in its custody.

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen told Congress that within 48 hours of being taken into custody the children are transferred to the Department of Health and Human Services, which finds places for them to stay.

“They will be separated from their parent,” said Democratic Sen Kamala Harris.

“Just like we do in the United States every day,” Nielsen replied.

Except that the states, unlike the federal government, have systems in place to better screen the people who become guardians of the children and much better ways to keep track of those children.

And not lose them.

That is what happened to 1,475 minors swept up at the border and taken into custody by the federal government.

Gone.

2. The feds have lost 1500 migrant kids... Trump enacts policy to separate migrant kids from parents...

one must ask if Trump's goal is to "disappear" or otherwise traffic more migrant kids.

People are saying... I've been hearing... A lot of people are talking...

Trump is friends with Jeffrey Epstein after all. Named in the same lawsuit. Dershowitz is carrying water for Trump on Fox. Why? What's that about? Just asking questions, you know...

And now this plan to separate kids from their parents, into a system which "loses" kids... Well... We've got to wonder what Kelly and Nielsen's vested interest in all of this is. Are they participants, profiteers, sadists, or other? People are asking...

It sounds like Trump and company are trying to traffic migrant kids into his friends' weird sex abuse situations. A lot of people are saying...

Dozens of them ran away to avoid custody / deportation. Now they need a roof over the head, a place to sleep, food. And there will be people who will exploit that. Some will probably find family or friends in their community to help them. But many will be lost, without agency, and many unspeakable things will happen to them. It's tragic.

Surely the pro-choice Republicans will be all over saving these kids, right?
