to get him an extended stay.In a statement, Anderson — a frequent guest of Assange’s since they were introduced in 2014 — said: “I’m deeply concerned about his health and well-being. His human rights have been abused before without sunlight but this is extraordinary. Incommunicado. No visitors. No internet. No phone calls. No access to outside world.
“This is torture — a slow, painful death [at] the hands of the US [and] UK. I feel for Ecuador. They have received so much pressure.”

A woman complains he had sex with her while she was unconscious, and without using a condom -- so Assange accuses her of being a CIA agent trying to set him up. He flees to the UK where, after losing a long court battle jumps bail to avoid extradition on the sex charge, he hides in an embassy for years -- a situation he and his lawyers rather oddly describe as being "detained without charge." Perhaps the oddest episode, during his time as a guest of the embassy, occurred in June 2013, when Assange announced Ecuador was supplying Snowden with refugee papers, a claim the Ecuadorian soon afterwards denied: the document did exist, but it had somehow been produced on computers in the embassy, without authorization
