Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsWhy is there so many articles about "exhibitionist clothing" of celebrities filling some websites"
If it not some rail thin frame women, or some one with a media name, promoted as if it is suppose to make a difference in life.
Then the next barrage is, which entertainer played "musical bed jumping with another" in their game of passing each other around like its a square dance.
Why is there so much hoopla over every "skinny girl in a bikini" splashed all over the web.... this is followed often of which one is incapable of sustaining a relationship more than a few weeks. and this is promoted as "being hot" or "exciting" in some weird way.
Is this what our society has become, when it no longer matters that a skinny body or a pretty face, does not mean even in the least of ways, that a person is honest, has integrity, or is of a character type that concerns itself with the ways of former societies where virtue, honor and dedication use to means something. Then its followed up with "who's sleeping in who's bed".... as if that matters to the general public.
Kids killing other kids in school, grand-kids killing grand mother because she is disinherited, a 30 yrs old man, pissed off because his family want him to move out, to people killing their entire family, many times behind money based anguish, when they can't live like a TV commercial. Crazed kids, out just to kill for the sake of killing... and the history of the past repeating itself of the violence it once lusted for and call it part of family values, when they'd take their kids to a lynching, simply because the person being lynched was black. people raping and killing babies, and others going in eateries killing up people, to a father plowing his car into eater killing his own daughter, and the media ways to say, "oh' he loved his daughter" and then blame it on some mental issue. When fact is, he was simply a cold blooded murderer.
Then there is this American Destroying Right Wing Congress and a Fool occupying the Whitehouse. While Treason is made acceptable by the people through the media lulling them daily into acceptance of such madness.
Are we truly are going the way of Rome.....in our overall downfall ????

However, your point about physical beauty trumping all is well taken.

(21,741 posts)When it was really the political immorality that brought them down. Much like the controlling party in America today. They showed a lot of boob for a lot of years, but the political perversion of their leaders and overreach of their military was their bane.
Why is there only one Amendment (guns) and one Commandment (Thou shalt not show titty) that count in modern day America?

(18,124 posts)Rome, at the end with the "barbarians at the gate", was a depraved and wanton society. I agree with your analogous observation completely.
There has been slippage lately in letting this rather loud minority 'running things' try to intimidate diverse cultures and threaten to unleash their Kraken(rahowa) and interrupt the great experiment that is US. Urban Dictionary reference in both words Kraken and rahowa.

(90,658 posts)Yes, we have our problems here in America. Yes, DU ers are very concerned about many of these grimmer issues. Yes, we sometimes spend some time cranking about sexism, ageism, body-shaming, and the size of airline seats.
But to put it kindly, you sound as though you are trying to understand the US from the outside, and by reading nothing but tabloids. Your grammar, and the way you are throwing absolutely everything at once into one post are a bit ...telling.
