In general, clinicians treat these traits as pathological, something that needs to be treated,
- narcissism, Machiavellianism, psychopathy and sadism

- Narcissism is characterized by grandiosity, pride, egotism, and a lack of empathy.[11]
- Machiavellianism is characterized by manipulation and exploitation of others, a cynical disregard for morality, and a focus on self-interest and deception.[12]
- Psychopathy is characterized by continuing antisocial behavior, impulsivity, selfishness, callousness, and remorselessness.[13]
- Sadism is characterised by the feeling pleasure and excitement when others are unhappy.[5]
