(113,010 posts)distinction isnt one to be offered by the professional propagandist/agitator crowd currently spreading these 2014 photos.

(58,724 posts)At least that was the impression given in most cases.
It's good that this confusion/misattribution has been cleared up so quickly (for the most part).

(113,010 posts)Old....still not a fool.
I'm saying, on Twitter a lot of folks presented those photos erroneously - suggesting they were current, as opposed to from 2014. Most have since made the correction and (in some case) apologized.
A couple of examples:

(113,010 posts)The deliberate policy to FORCIBLY separate the children from their parents. This overflow was of kids who were being held until they could be placed with found family members in 2014 - big effing distinction that RW trolls wouldnt offer. Would they?

(58,724 posts)The photo went viral and it was purported to be from 2018 but it turned out to be from 2014.
It was presented in tweets (and on DU) as an example of "Trump's America" but, in reality, it was a photo that predated Trump.
Most people have since corrected their mistake.
I'm not sure what you are talking about with RW trolls and the like.

(113,010 posts)I am entirely aware of the timeline. And entirely unsurprised at this thread.

Obviously, since they were published in 2014 they are not "the first glimpse of immigrant children at a holding facility" in "Trump's Amerika."
As bad as Trump is - we need to be sure we are not spreading inflammatory fake news.

(113,010 posts)and that is par for the course.
You are welcome to any variation of miles that suit you.
Ms. Toad
(33,992 posts)is that the photos were not taken during the Trump administration, but they are being used to illustrate how horrible the Trump administration is.
Certainly other distinctions can be made, but I am concerned about how readily we spread information without verifying it is accurate.

(113,010 posts)concern, itself, becomes concerning. I get what you are saying and I, too, am an accuracy activist.
I also note those who habitually ignore context when it doesnt suit a preferred narrative.
Nothing personal to you, Ms. T. I do get your valid point.

(58,724 posts)The Trump administration immigration policies are despicable.
The only issue here is making sure we present information that is accurate.

(113,010 posts)Finding no room for the only truly relevant distinction......so UNsurprised.
