its the Dept of Transportation
there's a map of current road problems
try your state Dept of Transportation
or the State Police - they might have a map as well

Just punch in your starting location and destination and it'll give you an ETA, along with if there are any accidents on the route.

I use one from the Colorado Dept of Transportation, but obviously, you need one for your state...

Having used both that and Google Maps, I think Waze is much quicker at getting that info out, giving you a better opportunity to find an alternate route before you're stuck in the middle of whatever is causing the delay.

but it's still a little buggy sometimes. I switch back and forth between it and Google Maps. Google to get me where I'm going and Waze to tell me about speed traps, accidents, red light cameras and such. I'd use waze all the time but it periodically crashes on me. Enough that it's irritating. It might be the interface between it and android auto. AA has always been able to use Google maps but only fairly recently got Waze. My car has a big screen that shows me my phone through Android Auto so map apps are lovely and i don;t have to touch my phone - it's all hands free.

I don't use it for to give me directions since it can try and shave a few minutes off your drive through odd places instead of the "slow and steady wins the race" mindset that I have but it's great for getting alerts of problems.

I also use it a lot when visiting folks so they know when to expect me, such as pickups for kids and the like.

It diverts you around traffic. It also reports police/speed traps based on other driver reports. It’s pretty accurate. I even use it in town for red light and speed camera notifications.

We learned the hard way to not ignore the app. We were driving down state to see family and the app was trying to divert us on a side road. We both looked at each other like “what’s that about?” And as soon as we passed the turn off, boom! 40 minutes got added to the trip for a really bad accident ahead.

and Google suddenly added an hour to my travel time. Took me a minute, but I suddenly realized there was an alert about an accident on I-94. They estimated over an hour delay. Luckily, I'm not leaving today.
