Humor so often tells the biggest truths.

I have removed the image that, with no other text, was the substance of this post. I do this in deference to those who somehow found it offensive. It is my view they *chose* to be offended. But whatever. This is DU.

7. Prejudice against large people is the last "acceptable" form of discrimination

I've heard that Jay Leno runs his jokes by his wife, Mavis, to see if they're sexist, but he has no such filter for his snarky remarks against big folks.

15. Sadly, that doesn't surprise me. There are some DUers who think making fun of fat people is fine.

It's just the way it is.

I can't imagine how one can get to that point. It must be horrible to not have any control over how much you eat or how your body processes it.

6. Obese people are discriminated against just as horribly as gay people or any other

non accepted group.

At least gay people can pretend they're straight and pass as 'normal'. Obese people can't. I really hope you didn't mean this because I have a lot of respect for you.

It also doesn't work unless Chick-Fil-A has made a statement saying that obesity is genetic, which, AFAIK, it hasn't.

10. Well I think that the original photo

makes a very important point.

I do get tired of hugely obese people whining about being discriminated against, how tiny the airplane seats are, and all that crap. A lot of choices went into getting that big.

Gay people didn't choose in the same way.

12. Your ignorance is noted

But your concern is really shallow, if it even exists. Do you know how many DUers suffer from obesity? Do you even have a clue?

You are wrong in thinking that you're some paragon of virtue because you aren't obese or whatever other group you have such disdain for. You're actually more of a hateful person for saying what you did. Does that make you proud?

13. Given my personal experience

I will take umbrage.

Morbid obesity can come from choice. (Though far less than you think)

It can also come from disease...several medical conditions can lead to it.

Did I mention a side effect from medications. <--------- yup, 50 pounds, in three months or so.

It is very easy to be judgmental.

Also we are starting to think some of it has to do with a lot of modern conditions.

I commend the op for removing the image.

Oh and before you ask, lost quite a bit of it...can't seem to shake the last 20 or so pounds...it has, shocking I know, to do with probably permament changes.

11. The thing that gets me is I'm what you would call a skinny person

I didn't or don't choose to be that way its just the way I am but nevertheless I constantly hear shit about my weight.
Some people can look at food and gain a pound. Myself I can eat a whole cow and not gain an ounce.
Fuck it I'm who I am and in 64 years I've not been able to change that one bit
