Romney wants 'something dramatic' to aid economy

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Mitt Romney is calling for ‘‘something dramatic’’ to help the economy recover, but he’s not saying exactly what.

The Republican presidential says he opposes another federal stimulus package and new government programs. He also says that if the Federal Reserve were to undertake another ‘‘massive’’ program of buying government bonds and mortgage-backed securities, with the goal of driving long-term interest rates even lower, it wouldn’t help the recovery.

‘‘I can absolutely make the case that now is the time for something dramatic and it is not the time to grow government. It’s the time to create the incentives and the opportunities for entrepreneurs and businesses big and small to hire more people and that’s going to happen,’’ Romney said an interview aired Sunday on CNN’s ‘‘State of the Union.’’

‘‘You’re going to see that happen in this country but not under this president.

He thinks that with the aid of a complicit piss poor media and the collective stupidity of much of the American electorate that he can get away with this shit.

dramtic enough for you"

...those will "aid" the economy? I mean, these aren't mentioned in the piece. Romney is being as vague as possible to avoid scrutiny.

Hire more people and pay everybody more!

Accept the fact that you don't NEED record profits, or even near-record profits.

No one is saying you can't be rich, just that mabe it would be helpful if you get more rich a little slower.

How about if you and all the other members of the 1% club, pay the full, top federal tax rate of 35%, and don't take any deductions?

That would be quite dramatic, it would help out a lot, and it would make the rest of us feel better about you. If you were to do that, setting an example for the other members of your club, it would go a long way toward redeeming you in the eyes of people who's jobs you outsourced. It would probably also buy you a lot of votes.

Of course, that ain't gonna happen...

"I will not cut the military budget," he told the American Legion, which published excerpts on Thursday from an interview with the presumptive Republican nominee.
"I will instead expand our essential weapons programs and our [number of] active-duty personnel. I do these things not so that we have to fight wars, but so that we can prevent wars."

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/19/mitt-romney-military-budget_n_1687601.html

Yes that works out so well we actually prevent wars with other countries or maybe it is because there is no need to wage war on the most armed 'rich' country in the world, so good in fact we have to go and start our own wars.

"I can absolutely make the case that now is the time for something dramatic and it is not the time to grow government. It’s the time to create the incentives and the opportunities for entrepreneurs and businesses big and small to hire more people and that’s going to happen."

By giving defense contractors more money to fund our super duper military with assets that are still vulnerable to a little bit of ingenuity and a wish to kill.

Romney is going to call for EVEN MORE MASSIVE tax cuts for the wealthy while cutting SS and Medicaid, but he doesn't want to come out and say it explicitly because it will hurt his election chances.

They'll have war over Iran within the first six months if he should (God forbid) win the White House.

Wars are good for the economy (especially if you're Haliburton, etc.) and the fundies will LUV it.

i am inclined to agree (as long as we are taking for granted the continued imposition of economics on the human race - and seeing as how communist revolution is not imminent it is safe to say the logic of the economy is not going anywhere) and so will the international bourgeoisie, eventually.

How about less drama, more real confidence? So people know they won't lose their homes, that they can afford to go to the doctor and get the treatment they may need without fear of ending up out on the curb.
