Dear movie stars, politicians, rich people, respected community leaders - stop tweeting and start

organizing! I keep hearing that “Twitter is outraged” by Trump’s latest actions. Guess what? This administration doesn’t care! Twitter outrage is easily ignored.

We need money, and lots of it. We need events and protests created to energize the Democratic base. The protests against Trump’s immigration policies were a great start - we need this on a constant basis.

We need singers, movie stars, comedians, respected members of the community, fiery politicians, and people that Trump has hurt to form as a solitary movement to flip the power dynamic in the country!

The regular person isn’t gong to make enough of a dent. We need organization, big names, and most of all, cash!

Where are you, Hollywood? We need you now more than ever! Remember the womens’ March? Do that - often! We can forment a huge movement to take our country back, but we need to lay the foundation first.

1. I'm not sure Hollywood does us any favors.

If anything, I think the idea that we’re the “party of Hollywood” is a turnoff to a lot of independents. The award speeches are usually great, but noone relates to one millionaire handing a golden statue to another millionaire.

Do you feel otherwise?

3. We need their money and star power.

We need to draw people in. This is what creates huge movements. Yes, the average person can start a movement, but it’s incredibly hard to be heard without cash flowing in and attention. We need to break through the mold in this 24-hour news society immediately.

This is a war. It’s an information war - a war for peoples’ minds. Like any war, we need money and the support of powerful people.

Most of all, we need people that the media loves. People might blast Hollywood as elitist, but on a base level, they love their movie stars, singers, etc.

I personally could give two craps what turns off independents. And I have no problem with Hollywood either.

2. Agreed - Instead Of Spending Money On Commercials To Impeach Trump....

that money should be spent to register Dem voters. Get them to the voting venue. Support Dem candidates. Support a massive GOTV campaign.

Put that money into something that we can see results on.

Right now impeachment is not a priority. Winning back the House and Senate are.

GOTV!!!!!!

foundation first," that's the work the grassroots -- you -- need to be doing. It's a hard slog and often boring and frustrating, but it's what a movement needs.

6. And people need motivation. They want to be integrated into something bigger.

“Grassroots” is largely misunderstood. You can have a grassroots movement (bottom up) and intensely powerful support. I would argue that we need that support, lest the more powerful voices of the current power structure cancel you out.

We need events and outreach. Those require lots of money that the average person does not have. We need to draw people in and normalize our movement - we need entertainers for that!

7. If you need a movie star to motivate you, I guess I don't know what to tell you.

Why your friends and neighbors are more likely to relate to a movie star speaking for you than you telling your story doesn't really make sense to me. There are plenty of events and outreach that can be done -- and are all the time -- on a shoestring. It helps to have a goal in mind when you're trying to determine tactics. What's your goal?

8. I wouldn't say it's a matter of motivation as much as a matter of becoming a unified force.

Many people are already motivated, but they don't know what to do with that motivation. Having large scale, organized protests would be a great start.

There's nothing wrong with shoestring budget, smaller rallies, but they're less visible. We need something so large that it never goes away and can't be ignored.
