(6 posts)The shooter has been identified as Wade Michael Page, a white supremacist neo-nazi skinhead, who played in a white power band whose main lyrics were advocating genocide against Jews. He had associations with the neo-Nazi National Alliance, which used to be the premier white supremacist hate group in the country. The National Alliance was formed and led by William Pierce, who wrote "The Turner Diaries," a hate book about a violent white revolution to overthrow the government and ultimately provoke a race war. There are reports that Page had a copy of the book in his apartment, but I haven't seen official confirmation yet. It should be remembered that, when he was arrested after the bombing of the Oklahoma City Federal Building, Timothy McVeigh also had parts of The Turner Diaries in his getaway car.
Morris Dees' Southern Poverty Law Center has been keeping an eye on Page since 2000.
All that notwithstanding, expect the lunatic fringe to rave about (as onehandle pointed out) this was part of Obama's insidious plan to abolish the Second Amendment, or that this was an attack pulled off by Islamic militants to make it look like right-wing terrorism.
The Sikhs, a religious sect from India, have no connection whatsoever to Islam, but they have been frequently attacked since 2011 because they wear turbans and have long beards. IIRC, the first Sikh murdered after 9/11 was shot only four days after the World Trade Center tragedy.
