Paul B. Farrell: WWIII: Great commodities war to end all wars

WWIII: Great commodities war to end all wars
Commentary: A new era of depletion, collapse and austerity

By Paul B. Farrell, MarketWatch

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (MarketWatch) — Yes, WWIII: The Great Commodities War to End All Wars. We’ve heard that before. Remember WWI, known as The War to End All Wars, 37 million casualties. WWII was bigger, 60 million. Will WWIII finally end all wars? Or end the world, civilization, planet?

And it’s already started folks, ending the Great American Dream.

Fasten your seat belts, soon we’ll all be shocked out of denial. Some unpredictable black swan. A global wake-up call will trigger the Pentagon’s prediction in Fortune a decade ago at the launch of the Iraq War: “By 2020 ... an ancient pattern of desperate, all-out wars over food, water, and energy supplies is emerging ... warfare defining human life.”

And that’s also the clear message in “The Race for What’s Left: The Global Scramble for the World’s Last Resources,” the latest book by noted international security expert Michael Klare. .................(more)

we already know that.

What we are experiencing is the "Last of the Resources
War".

All wars are fought over 3 things: gold, ego or resources.

As far as our current predicament, the "Last of the Resources War" began with the 1991 Gulf War. Which was a charade put on by the repukes under the guise of "Freeing Kuwait".

Which was only a precursor to the Iraq war.

In the end, what happened? A destroyed nation, millions killed and missing, over 5000 U.S soldiers killed and countless others from nations as part of "the Coalition of the willing" and the touching off of instability in that region for years to come.

AND the once nationalized oil industry was now thrown up to the highest bidders for exploitation.

Yet another war for the dwindling resources of the world.

We now live in a reality of perpetual war for resources. There might be "lulls" but in reality, those "lulls" will be filled by angry words or smaller actions conducted by other nations.

The war on terror offers the perfect cover excuse for any and all actions needed to "maintain our non-negotiable way of life" (as mr. chaney once said).

china and india trying like hell to have the same type of costly level of excess that we have.

While we should be cutting back, but aren't, china and india are just accelerating our speed toward the cliff.

Do I fault them? Yes and no.

Yes, because of the gargantuan amount of data showing we are on a climate chang freight train to hell. And no, because for most of their existence they have lived in poverty for the most part and now want a piece of the pie.

Ironically, just when they sit down to the table to take a bite, that pie will be just a gossamer.
