...to force you to watch the whole thing.

It's pretty shitty. But I'd expect any network that was airing the Olympics would do the same. Not that I'm defending them.

I'd up it by $25 and have to pay $100-200 for the machine to record it on? Why not just have NBC do decent coverage? I know, because they won't.

It is a freaking public domain concept and needs to go back to how it was 30 years ago.

it only happens every 4 years
you'll still have them in bed before school starts.
And you'll have great family memories too!
Be the cool mom.
Or let a TV network have control over you to inspire such unneeded hate in your life.
Either way is good for you I'm sure.

But they are consistently airing the best stuff after 11 EST. We can't maintain that kind of schedule for 2 weeks in a row. It just isn't feasible.

It might be summer, but that doesn't mean we still don't have to get up at 6 AM.

unless the TV event is perfectly scheduled around your life?
Too bad.
Funny how others are able to manage though....

The one has to catch a bus at 6:45am.

Like others, I've found ways to skip NBC's rather pathetic coverage and watch events when they happen or when we want to see them.

I am upset that they are purposely withholding the best events until non-Primetime to maximize their profits.

I could expound upon the crappy tape coverage, the inane announcers, their stupid puff pieces in primetime, the ridiculous number of commercials, their lack of coverage on non-US athletes... but I won't bother.

I can't stay up until midnight anymore, as much as I would like to see the "marquee" events like gymnastics.

I'll be really interested in seeing the final ratings numbers for this Olympics -- I bet there is a decline. NBC definintely wins the gold medal for sucky coverage.

People know the outcome and they are still watching it.

The reason I know - it's my job to know. I work for a TV station and well I keep track of these things on a daily basis. NBC is doing phenomenally right now with the Olympics. We aren't complaining at the affiliates either.

You are messing up your time zones.

I am watching the live BBC feed and all events are happening within the bedtimes of children (more or less).

before NBC decided to show the same things in the evening.

It was kind of fun ... my wife and I watched an event on Canadian TV during the day, and then watched it again at night on NBC ... when you know what's going to happen, the level of BS hype from the NBC anchors becomes extremely apparent and rather humorous.

I hate that you have to have a cable subscription to watch the online feed. The only reason is that NBC is owned by Comcast.
I hate the way they did the Opening Ceremonies, with their stupid, infantile, ignorant piece of shit commentators and deciding to edit out a moving tribute to the 7/7 terror attacks. Fucking American jingoistic ignorant shitheads.

I was hoping NBC would lose their shirts, so they would do things different, bu the American sheep having not choice, tuned in regardless.

But would like to see the coverage change. The Olympics should inspire children. Hard to do that when the sports they can relate to come on so late.
