For God's sake Missouri, you are really going to make this man a Senator?

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0611/57941.html

Akin (R-Mo.) told Family Research Council President Tony Perkins on his radio show Friday that “the heart of liberalism really is a hatred for God and a belief that government should replace God,”

We are talking about the same Missouri where they just voted to allow prayer in public, even though it's already guaranteed by the US Constitution?

but more than a few people I know actually said it was the wording. Oh, well-when it comes to wording we have them on this measure come November. (And the Repubs are fighting mad-so much so that they actually took it to court-and lost.)

Official Ballot Title:

Shall Missouri law be amended to deny individuals, families, and small businesses the ability to access affordable health care plans through a state-based health benefit exchange unless authorized by statute, initiative or referendum or through an exchange operated by the federal government as required by the federal health care act?

No direct costs or savings for state and local governmental entities are expected from this proposal. Indirect costs or savings related to enforcement actions, missed federal funding, avoided implementation costs, and other issues are unknown.

all the putative Republican candidates). That result will change, I hope, as Missourians familiarize themselves with his stances. And Obama's coat-tails in KC and Saint Louis proper may help McCaskill also.

During the Republican primary, Akin made statement after statement that showed just how out of touch he is with working-class Missouri families. Here are a few of the most shocking:

He compared federal student loans to "Stage III cancer"
He didn't know what the federal minimum wage was, and wants to get rid of it altogether
He wants to hand Social Security over to Wall Street
He wants to privatize Medicare
He wants to preserve taxpayer subsidies for big oil and gas companies

Does that sound like someone you want in the U.S. Senate?

Unfortunately, many Republicans in Missouri are already lining up behind him.

But, as far-right, wing-nutz conservative as Todd Akin is, on the news last night, they said Claire is to the right of him on something. I missed it because I was having trouble computing the bat-shit crazy that is the normal reality of some (seemly a lot of) people in Missouri. Especially the southern parts.

Again, Republicans are incapable of lying. To lie, you need to know the truth. To know the truth, you need to be connected to reality. How can people who support Todd Akin and Akin himself be acquainted with reality when they make up their own as they go along? Isn't this a definition of mental problems?

The willful ignorance runs deep there. The culture of bigotry, prejudice, and hate is burned into most of the young there from birth.

And before I get jumped on, NO, it's not ALL Missourians, just most of them.

The people I went to school with were PROUD of their ignorance, perfectly happy with poor grades. They like to buy into all the right wing wedges: God, Guns, and Gays.

I wonder, how can we ever help these people understand that the 1% has them duped?

... it's almost impossible to break through to them. I know, I live in the 6th Congressional District of Minnesota. (think Batshit Crazy Lady) When knocking on doors for Tarryl Clark in '10, it absolutely astounded me to hear some of the things otherwise "normal" appearing people had to say. SCARY stupidity.
