pushing him for days now to the point of disgust. Will they makes excuses (bwahahaha, I kill me) or head for some sort of medication. they wonder why they are laughed at and mocked but this could be pretty funny. I think they will be gobsmacked if he loses and let's say SSantorum comes in first, Ron second and Romney third. Some good entertainment coming up I'm thinking.

(16,646 posts)They'll try to spin it up, but the reality is that Romney has not made Iowa a priority. As long as he's in the top 3 he'll be fine. Even out of the top 3 he'll just run to New Hampshire.
Several pundits have already said that Iowa doesn't pick the winner, it just identifies the losers. Romney will be in New Hampshire no matter what.

That would set up quite the war within the Republican Party. "The Christianists" vs. "The Money Changers".

(7,231 posts)"Christians" as they are found within the GOP are not, have never been, and never will be Christians (like you find them among independents and Democrats).

(533 posts)I didn't think he had a ice cube's chance in hell, but he leads in both Iowa and New Hampshire. Wins in both states will give him a great deal of momentum.
Ron Paul is the one candidate that could capture some of the populist fervor generated by OWS. Plus, Paul's take down of Gingrich has shown he's got some media smarts. I am not comfortable with him in the race.
On the other hand, he's just as bat-shit-crazy as Bachmann, though he's been significantly more successful at keeping it under wraps. I think Pauls followers complain about him getting ignored by the media, but are secretly happy for the treatment. Top Dog status coming out of the 1st two primaries would bring out the big gun of media focus, and the batshit will fly, just as it did with Bachmann.
The best scenario I can see is for Santorum to surge ahead in Iowa and Huntsman in New Hampshire, with Romney and Paul swapping 2nd and 3rd in each state...or maybe Romney dropping from the top three spot in one state. If that happened, Romney would see his chances slipping, and he would come out hard and heavy against Paul.
No clear front runner, and a bloody battle for the heart of the GOP would only benefit the Dems.
