Attorney says client lied to him and judge
Christopher Perrien fooled everyone: his attorney, the probation office, the judge who sentenced him and county jail officials responsible for knowing where he was.
On Sept. 1, 2011 - three weeks before authorities say Perrien shot and killed a Delta Township couple during a home invasion - he appeared in Eaton County Circuit Court to be sentenced for credit card theft.
Transcripts of that hearing, obtained last week by the Lansing State Journal, show that Perrien, 38, lied to Judge Thomas Eveland, saying he worked for a nonexistent company.
The false claim led Eveland to allow Perrien - who Eveland sentenced to 300 days in jail - to be released from the county jail from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Perrien's attorney in the theft case, Lee Taylor, requested the work release.
Perrien was out of jail the afternoon of Sept. 22, a Thursday, when according to prosecutors, he shot and killed Michael and Terri Greene at their Eaton Highway home. Michael Greene, 62, was a retired Michigan State Police detective. The incident was not random, officials have said without being specific.

The two people murdered were the next door neighbors of a good friend of mine. She has been following the case and just sent me this - you would think the attorney/court/judge/someone would have checked his story.
