The Wasteland of Democratic Party Politics
There is no drama in the Democratic Party, this election year. The Democratic domain is a dead zone that has had all the oxygen sucked out of it by Obamaism.
Of course, Obamaism is simply Clintonism with a darker face.
Bill Clinton was the first Democratic Leadership Council President. Al Gore would have been the second, if George Bush had not stolen the 2000 election through massive disenfranchisement of Black voters in the Sunshine State.
Gore did not see fit to contest the election based on the theft of hundreds of thousands of Black Florida votes. Instead, he hitched his fortunes to hanging chads and a Republican-dominated U.S. Supreme Court.

The writer is Glenn Ford of Black Agenda Report. I think the comparison is just, both have taken their administrations decidely to the right.

Might it have something to do with the lack of control of one or both Houses of Congress after a miniscule 2 years?

(16,327 posts)Gore did not challenge it on the grounds of disenfranchisement of blacks that occurred, but on a technical glitch -- what the writer stated is true.

"The Republicans are ugly, nasty and evil. President Obama is the most attractive and articulate servant of Wall Street and war and, therefore, an even more effective evil."

(716 posts)"wish a hint of Fascism roused as much response as a hint of Marxism....."
...clearly Obama must be stopped at all cost, even if Fascism is the end result. I'm sure the Republican brand of Fascism is more to the liking of those who will spend the next ten months campaigning against him.

(716 posts)and the rule of law back on the Statue of Liberty, in place of the assault weapon the last decade has sullied it with.
To me, the point about "a more effective evil" refers to the despair engendered when the cops show up, but the crime continues.
Not addressing the war-crimes, nor the financial crimes, in terms of vigorous investigation and prosecution, indicates that the financial elites thusly profiting, have immunity. That is Fascistic, isn't it?
In the endeavor to perfect ourselves, this enshrines these crimes, and encourages more.
That does seem to qualify as a pretty effective evil; granted not greater.
Don't we want to be an inspiration, rather than a belligerent exporter of war and dishonest financial practices?
I'm not campaigning against Obama, we really need him, but my bumper sticker is upside-down, like the flag of distress.

(11,292 posts)A Republican would be pilloried for the handling of the Gulf tragedy, for putting Social Security on the bargaining table, for the Afghanistan 'surge', for billions for bankers, for health care which enshrines profit....
The Republicans look on, making some necessary noise but quite in agreement and profoundly frustrated by having their positions usurped. The extreme 'batshit' of their field is the result, they got no place to go for contrast except over the edge.

The claims that Obama plans to kill SS are ridiculous, and even though its been predicted here as IMMINENT every 2 weeks for the last 3 years, nothing has happened.
Its just one more manufactured outrage widget.

Maybe these people should consider voting Republican to save us. Actually, it's clear they have no intention of voting for Obama.

(11,292 posts)And I think there's a good chance that the Republicans will blow up.
With the Republicans in chaos it only remains for a continuation of this administration to complete the destruction of the Democratic 'brand' and it's long defunct association with the New Deal.
JoePhilly
(27,787 posts)In fact, I think its a great reason to get excited about Obama.
If after all of their efforts to demonize him, their willingness to destroy the country to remove him, the birthers, the racists, the catering to the 1% ... if all of that fails, and Obama gets re-elected ... the GOP's implosion continues, and probably accelerates.
The GOP spent the last 30 years trying to destroy the middle class, using war, and gays, and god, and guns, as distractions ... if they FAIL now ... they should splinter even more than they have during their primary.
Which would be a great thing for the country.

(11,292 posts)Methinks your response selective.
The 1% needn't worry in the short term, the Dems got their backs.

(18,402 posts)from all the discussion of the Republican Party, and what a wasteland it is? Because of all evenings, this is the one where all eyes are turned toward the Republicans. And yet you choose to post a screed about what a wasteland the Democratic Party is.
It seems rather desperate and diversionary to me, on this of all nights.
Resume your Democrat-bashing tomorrow. Tonight is a night to bash Republicans.
