Ultra-Orthodox Jewish men offered blurry glasses look to keep Israeli women out of sight.

JERUSALEM — It’s the latest prescription for extreme ultra-Orthodox Jewish men who shun contact with the opposite sex: Glasses that blur their vision, so they don’t have to see women they consider to be immodestly dressed.

In an effort to maintain their strictly devout lifestyle, the ultra-Orthodox have separated the sexes on buses, sidewalks and other public spaces in their neighborhoods. Their interpretation of Jewish law forbids contact between men and women who are not married.

Walls in their neighborhoods feature signs exhorting women to wear closed-necked, long-sleeved blouses and long skirts. Extremists have accosted women they consider to have flouted the code.

Now they’re trying to keep them out of clear sight altogether.

Why don't these men, of any religion, who are so freaking terrified of women, realize that it illustrates that they are WEAK, not that the women are WICKED.

Normally the onus is on the women to stay covered up or to keep out of sight so the sight of their hair or ankles or whatever doesn't cause the men any discomfort. At least the guys willing to wear these glasses are stepping up and taking responsibility for what they feel they need to do.

And this is why I have no respect for ultra-anything. Because it always comes down to women should be ashamed to be women and all men are opportunistic rapists under whatever magic clothing or blurry glasses they wear.

The most fundamental are always the biggest market for porn. Modesty, my ass.

They have an issue, it's on them to deal with it. Trying to force women to be invisible = wrong. Making yourself unable to see = whatever.

Blurry glasses curtails the man's life. Go for it if you believe in sex segregation so much.

...I'm not the only one worried about the safety of these guys. I'm visualizing little old men rolling down stairs, walking in front of cars, wandering into a brothel...

This is nuts.

cloud up the glasses so they can only see light and dark. Give them white canes.......

It also explains Miss Av in this month's issue of Playboyim:

I'll never be able to look at cherry yogurt again without lingering.

I hope this catches on with fundies everywhere although it would give a sinister new meaning to the "God is my co-pilot" bumper-stickers.

Ok, that's it. I'll stop before my name goes on the board.

If they're accosting women, then they're a threat to public safety and being a public nuisance.
