Mitt has to go with Palin to have any chance at all. No one expects anything from her, she has been

vetted, can handle Joe in the debates and the country will have a clear choice of what is at stake.

The choice of vp always is the most important decision a candidate will make.

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2011/03/17/sarah-palins-2012-chances-polls-show-she-cant-win-nomination.html

^snip^

But the real story is the continued erosion of support for Sarah Palin. By the end of her three-month stint as John McCain’s VP nominee, 59 percent of American voters believed that Sarah Palin was not ready for the job, and 47 percent of self-described centrists said they were actually less likely to vote for McCain because of Palin’s presence on the ticket.

There was no doubt that she was beloved by the conservative base, but one year after the election, with Palin acting as voice of the opposition, 63 percent of Americans already said that they would “ not seriously consider” her for president.

By April 2010, even 47 percent of Tea Party supporters said that Sarah Palin would not “have the ability to be an effective president”—while only 40 percent believed she would. At the height of Tea Party enthusiasm, Palin’s conservative populist base was saying “thanks, but no thanks” to a prospective presidential campaign. It was a judgment call by the people who knew her best.

and will never accept her as someone qualified to step in as President.

They can offer her some cabinet position if they need her to campaign for them but the VP spot is not an option.

As I recall Joe, being the gentleman he is, chewed her up and spit her out and smiled the entire time.

It's been 4 years so please forgive my feeble memory, but I seem to recall the moderator threw Palin a bunch of softballs and expected Biden to be on top of his game.

Thu Aug 9, 2012, 09:30 PM

She started out by asking if she could call him "Joe" and then had her "Say it ain't so Joe" line that was way to rehearsed.

She even said straight out that she was going to answer the questions she wanted to answer and not the ones she was asked (paraphrased).

You need to go watch that debate again and then reread your post.

With Koch brother as a delegate, I see them coming through and showing their true colors this time. At least McCain tried to restrain the blood thirsty racists that Palin whipped up on her tours. Romney wouldn't bother. Scorched earth is his favorite smell in the morning.

I'm still thinking Paul Ryan or Rand Paul. That will bring the Tea Party and the Libertarians, not to mention the patriot and conspiracy kooks into the fold again.
And the Koch brothers would have all three of their brand names in one place. Romney has been blowing dog whistles for all three groups. The Christofascists would love having Palin on the ticket and turn out in droves.

Actually, it would be great if he did pick her - it would totally guarantee that he'd lose in a landslide. Vetted? Riiiighht. The lack of vetting of that lunatic by the McCain campaign was obvious, and GOP insiders like Steve Schmidt now acknowledge that they fucked up. And no, she can't handle Joe in a debate; what a ludicrous statement. She couldn't debate a ten-year-old without her talking points written on her hand.

I hope you were intending to be sarcastic, because if you weren't, I'd strongly recommend a nice long rest.

is the fact that Sarah Palin continues to be a stupid, spectacularly unqualified, narcissistic grifter, and the only people who still take her at all seriously are the fringe knuckledragging teabaggers who sit around in their underwear wanking over her Facebook page. The GOP establishment - that is, the money people - wouldn't touch her with a ten-foot boathook, even to placate the lunatic fringe.

Quayle's saving grace was he was on a ticket with the de facto president from 1981 to 1988. The only reason Quayle had to be there at all is the Constitution says there has to be a vice president.

Bush 41 was qualified to be president. Mitt Romney isn't qualified to catch dogs.

Palin wasn't qualified to be the Gov of Alaska and she proved it by quitting halfway through her stint. She was a total disaster for McCain in 2008. They wrote a book and made a movie about her and her lack of any political sense. She was a nobody that the MSM made into a somebody and now you really think that Mitt has to go with her as his VP choice. She would be a heartbeat away from the Presidency? Really?
