CNN calls BS on Papa John's claim, but mainly I am mesmerized by the patheticness of this pizza.
From the editorial accompanying this story (which isn't a transcript of the video):
Even Americans who get their insurance from their employers pay for their care. No one should be under the illusion that their "bosses" are generously picking up the tab. There are many studies that show that premiums and wages offset one another. Employees (read: individuals) pay for their health insurance themselves through lower wages.
So let's stop attacking the Affordable Care Act because it will mean that we -- meaning individual Americans -- are paying for health care. We always do.
Let's circle back around to Papa John's, though. Part of what the act does is mandate that companies start providing health insurance to their employees or pay a penalty. Since some don't do that already, this will cost them money. They could take this out of profits or reduce the salaries of their executives, but they will probably do what every business does: They'll pass it on to the consumer.
Okay, but mainly... is this an actual Papa John's pizza? Because if it is... damn. That's just sad.

(114,904 posts)all the crap too often loaded on pizza. And the crust looks decent. Oh, and I doubt it's a PJ's pizza.

ETA gotta love mobile browsers sometimes, that's a video not a photo... but no, it's not one of theirs.

(114,904 posts)that is what a real pizza looks like. It appears to me fresh mozzarella, tomato sauce and fresh basil on a thin crust. No bullshit cheese stuffed crust or gobs of crappy toppings like the chain products.
Real food doesn't look like the plastic food in kiddie kitchens.
That looks like real food.
I think it's sad that people are so conditioned to fake food.

(46,021 posts)Less than a month ago, I was in Virginia Beach. The pizzeria took a frozen Frisbee, put thin tomato sauce on it, and sprinkled cheese on it. That's it. My school made better pizza when I was eight.
False advertising as it wasn't pizza.

(25,699 posts)Less sauce and it'd be a decent-looking pizza.
Instead it looks like tomato bisque that's been on the counter for a week and a half.

(14,337 posts)including the sauce from scratch. Apparently other people like it too because I have had orders for it. The cost to make it has gone up in the past few months not because I have to pay anybody's health insurance, but because grocery prices have gone up with higher shipping (gas) charges. No, I don't charge them any more money for the pizza. I am not out of make a huge profit on it. It's just a little something I do because I like doing it and make a little extra money.

Truly, he is a man who would eat pizza every single day if i wouldn't fight him on it.
I was telling him about the hissy fit being thrown by CEO John Schnatter and suggested that he avoid the place and he shrugged and said it'd be no problem since he would never eat "that crap" anyhow.

Way back in the day, Papa John's was really good. And the garlic butter dipping sauce for the crust was a new twist. Their quality has faded over time. Just like Pizza Hut. Gone to shit, but used to be really good.
