What is up with my phone number that these Teabaggers keep calling me in NYC?!

Okay so today my mother got a call from some Republican or Teabagger organization called Conservative Majority. They were calling from Washington, D.C. Here is their number: 202-599-4793

Here are some article links I found about these guys:
1. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/26/conservative-majority-fund-birthers_n_1705331.html
2. http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-202-599-4793 <-- I'm on a private number list and they are still calling me. I think they got the message though after today.

A human person answered the phone and then they transferred us to a robo-call. Bizarre already. In it he person robocaller sounds angry and talks about finding out the secrets of Obama. His birth certificate, his Connecticut social security number, his "sealed" records and so on.

When the "robo caller" was finished with his angry rant a another person came on the line to talk to me about getting rid of Obama and if I have any questions about his standing and background. I was like, why wasn't this done during the time McCain was running since he technically wasn't born in the US and this was going on during the time Obama was the Democratic candidate. I even stated that Republican and Teabagger Congressmen have stated Obama's birth certificate is legitimate. I went on to debunk this idea that SSN's are State based, which is false.

Then I told her, the best way to attack Obama is on his policies rather than actually on these personal issues. If that's the case you should be looking into Romney heavily. Then they asked if I would vote for Obama. And I said the jury was still out (false) but one needs to needle these people along. I then stated that it's been blatantly clear that these allegations are made up from dreamers and wee need to focus on his policies. That feel on deaf ears. Then she told me she respected my opinion but we will agree to disagree and that was that.

It was right after the call I realized something. This election is not about money. It's not about the money the Koch Brothers or a corporation or whatever has. This is not an election that is waged on the effectiveness or lack there of in regards to policy. This is an election based on fear and who can instill the most fear. Even the Obama campaign has sprinkled a bit of this "Fear the Other" into his campaign.

Who can get the most people scared. Of course Liberals who will vote Obama will not feel that in his campaign. But it could work on undecided and even former die hard Republican voters UNTIL Romney. However, the Romney campaign doesn't sprinkle it. They over use it. And they have help from the far right and extremists like some of these teabaggers. Don't go after Obama on policy...don't you wonder where he came from. As though he's an alien life form. Romney's helpers are targeting him on his very being rather than on anything he's done. On supposed "terrorist" connections, thank you Sarah Palin or should I say Thank you McCain party for making this woman have a voice.

Koch has the money to back these sorts of talk. But truly, this sort of talk festers, multiples and spreads with sheer force of will or fear rather than on facts. How do you have facts beat emotion? More often than not, facts are easily dismissed, disregarded, and debunked by more lies and knee jerk responses. Reeducation seems to even be a unattainable fallacy, these people aren't looking to be educated...unless it actually supports their emotional response. What I mean by this, is that I always felt that if people were informed they would make educated decisions. I think not and these people know how to market on it. It also helps them when the GOP governmental officials put in policies that help them exercise the fears in a way damaging to themselves but also to the nation at large.

I have faith Obama will win. But I have to say, when I get calls like this; once that appeal to the emotional response of the person rather than rich debate on the facts. I niggling sliver of doubt holds on strong. And my disenchantment with the American people makes it an even larger uphill battle.

The only funny part was them having difficulty pronouncing my mothers French First name and Greek Last name. We're Haitian, but my Dad has Greek lineage. Poor people suffered through that.

Rule #1 in GOP bizarro-land: At ALL times there MUST be a BOOGEYMAN!

They know if they run on their incredibly terrible history and policies they would never win another election again.

if they pass the shit the republicans want the only hope would be the president to veto the crazy crap they want. It is up to all of us to make sure we ask leaders at the local level where your office is what do you need to vote. Do it now and don't wait. Then go vote. If dems get the vote out like in 08 that will be the only way we can fight the suppression of votes.

It doesn't matter if Obama veto's a bill. Congress has the power to veto the president and pass what they want. And these congressmen know this. It happened to Bush, it can happen to Obama.

There is a lot more at play here. They get the Senate and we're truly screwed.

I just got another robo call from Utah (DANGER, DANGER WILL ROBINSON!) that starts with "Because of the recent decline in the economy....blah blah blah....you can lower your insurance costs before the Obama cuts go into effect. Leave your name and phone number after the tone. (beep)"

My standard approach is to listen to the whole thing and then yell "FUCK YOU!" and hang up.
