We've been saying this around DU for how long now?

Companies cut back on training, adding to the unemployment rate. Workers, meanwhile, are expected to get the training -- and pay for it -- themselves. A bunch of keyboard commandos (namely, us) have long since figured this out. So why are companies being so short-sighted? Is money really the only issue?
