These are full-on sprints which have been the same distance for a very long time. At some point, if there is a theoretical limit on how fast a human can run 100 meters, and by testing the upper sample of humans who are best at it every four years, you approach that limit asymptotically, absent an entirely new and as-yet unthought of way by which humans can propel themselves under their own power.

The Women's Gold Medal Basketball game is tomorrow morning on NBC
The Men's Gold Medal game is Sunday on NBC (hopefully the US wins today vs. Argentina)
