What caused Romney to finally squeal "uncle"?

He wants the Obama campaign to stop talking about business and tax issues and talk about "real" issues like jobs and deficits. But how can you talk about jobs without talking about businesses? And how can you talk about deficits without talking about taxes? I think what Mitt wants is to stop talking about "his" business and "his" taxes??

There are no more important issues in this campaign than business and taxes. If Mitt can't stand the heat, maybe he ought to get out of the kitchen and go hide behind his Mama's skirt? All this whining and crying is rather unbecoming. But what caused Mitt to want a truce at this time?

In my opinion, the story that broke yesterday about Marriott and the "Son of Boss" was a real hit in the gut for Romney. For the first time, people learned that he had sit on the board for Marriott when they were devising all kinds of schemes to escape paying any taxes. In hindsight, it probably had Mitt's fingerprints all over it? Mitt wasn't punished but Marriott was fined over $70 million dollars for their little scheme. There is a pattern here, folks.

The Seamus story is enough for me. But, if a person needs more the pension stealing is a good one. That should be illegal. I used to think that when a company bought another company they wanted to make it a success. But, not Romney he saddled companies with debt, most likely hoping they would fail just so he could make a huge salary and huge profits. But, what if this model is actually a failure. What if those companies instead of going under became more profitable? Well we don't know the answer to that, because Romney killed them. Telling how he wants to run from this.

It's an attempt to change the narrative to make it look like Obama is bullying him and not talking about the real issues. He knows there's no way the Obama campaign is actually going to let off now.

So, they whine and complain about a controversial ad that the Obama campaign is not really responsible for and the media (who obviously love conflict) cover that.

This truce talk is just more whining in the hope that the media hammers Obama even when anyone paying attention knows it's really the Romney campaign that is the most dishonest in modern history.

Crying uncle, would require the last ten years of his tax returns. Until they are released, he's not going to be able to cry uncle. He's only squealing, which considering his piggish behavior, is kind of same old, same old. We've called them repigs for years, so why wouldn't he squeal?

He's squealing himself right out of the very limited chance he had to capture the White House. Squeal on, Mittens, you're still our bitch. Show us the tax returns and maybe, maybe, then, and only then, you can get out of this corner you painted yourself into.

Fri Aug 10, 2012, 08:28 PM

I think its this.

This is so bad, so viscerally bad, it repulses just about anyone.

Mitt Romney Started Bain Capital With Money From Families Tied To Death Squads
http://www.democraticunderground.com/1014187901

Source: Huffington Post

In 1983, Bill Bain asked Mitt Romney to launch Bain Capital, a private equity offshoot of the successful consulting firm Bain & Company. After some initial reluctance, Romney agreed. The new job came with a stipulation: Romney couldn't raise money from any current clients, Bain said, because if the private equity venture failed, he didn't want it taking the consulting firm down with it.

When Romney struggled to raise funds from other traditional sources, he and his partners started thinking outside the box. Bain executive Harry Strachan suggested that Romney meet with a group of Central American oligarchs who were looking for new investment vehicles as turmoil engulfed their region.

Romney was worried that the oligarchs might be tied to "illegal drug money, right-wing death squads, or left-wing terrorism," Strachan later told a Boston Globe reporter, as quoted in the 2012 book "The Real Romney." But, pressed for capital, Romney pushed his concerns aside and flew to Miami in mid-1984 to meet with the Salvadorans at a local bank.

It was a lucrative trip. The Central Americans provided roughly $9 million -- 40 percent -- of Bain Capital's initial outside funding, the Los Angeles Times reported recently. And they became valued clients.

Obama has been MORE than conciliatory to the Republicans and has gotten burned on multiple occasions. Romney's camp is probably hoping that he falls for it again.

So...

If Obama accepts, Romney will honor the agreement... while his attack dog PACs will continue to try and rip Obama to shreds.

If Obama declines, Romney will try and use it to paint him as a hard-core liberal who refuses to run a fair and decent election and Romney's attack dog PACs will try and rip Obama to shreds.

So Romney's "capitulation" smells a bit Rovian if you ask me. I don't think it was Rove's idea though, it lacks a certain... refusal to accept the consequences of showing weakness to an opponent before the main game even starts.
