Like father like son: Both Huntsmans say Romney should release taxes

Chaffetz, other supporters say the presidential candidate has revealed enough.

By Robert Gehrke and Matt Canham

Former Utah governor and presidential candidate Jon Huntsman joined his father in criticizing Mitt Romney for not releasing more tax returns, taking a direct shot at the man he professes to support.

"Anyone running for president should be willing to at least meet the standards required of those who will be appointed and confirmed by the Senate for senior executive branch positions. Something I’m familiar with having been confirmed three times," Huntsman said. "This is called leadership by example."

Huntsman had to disclose his own tax returns when he was confirmed by the Senate to be ambassador to Singapore, a deputy U.S. trade representative under President George W. Bush and most recently the U.S. ambassador to China under President Barack Obama.

The Romney campaign has released one partial year of the candidate’s 2010 tax returns and has said it will release the 2011 return when it is ready. But Romney has steadfastly refused to release any additional tax returns, breaking with a long-standing tradition among presidential candidates.

Oops! Mitt, you can run, but you can't hide behind Paul Ryan.

Mitt is hiding something. He's cheated on something.
I know Obama's got nothing to hide, either. He's unsealed everything from his college transcripts to his passports.

PUT UP OR SHUT UP, ROMNEY! YOU DIDN'T PAY ENOUGH TAXES AND YOU KNOW IT.

That SOB should release all of his tax records. We deserve to know!

I thought that was some big wingnut talking point, that there was something hidden in shis school records that he wouldn't reveal. I can use that information if you have a link.

that Obama's records were never sealed? The Right Wing has accused Obama of sealing them. The right famously likes to claim they are "sealed", but that is not true. It takes a court order to seal a record. Obama hasn't released his college transcripts, nor is he required to do so. NO PRESIDENT has ever released them. Snopes has already ruled on that. Obama has released his birth certificate, and his long form, and that still wasn't enough. Romney has also released his birth certificate, but not his long form. Gee wonder why there isn't a demand for his long form birth certificate? I wonder why there isn't a demand for Romney's college transcripts? I wonder hmmm

George Romney was born in Mexico(that's Mitt's father) and yet, there is no hoop dee doo over that. George Romney even ran on the Republican platform in the 1968 Presidential election.

Obama has released 11 years of taxes, and that is expected since GEORGE ROMNEY released 12 years of his in the 1968 Presidential election and started the tradition. Romney is hiding something yes....I just wish the Right Wing would stop all this birther/transcript BS when they don't ask their own candidates the same questions. I suspect I know why they make a difference here, and we will leave it at that.

I think that is the first time I have seen a non-political source note that.
