It was sliced to pieces to sell network equipment. Don't recall the hue and cry over that.
Oooh, holy.

Oh yeah...nothing.

(45,319 posts)He is his own product, that and 7-Up which allows that hate monger to pitch their poison.
He pushed religion, he's anti gay. You do the math.

(45,319 posts)I thought the song was not holy? You now claim it has powers to redeem a hate monger. Which is it?
He did not pick the song. He is a performer for hire. And a well known hate monger.
Dreamer Tatum
(10,926 posts)I saw a no-talent fameseeker sing one of the most grating songs I have ever heard. I care for neither. I care even less, however, for the righteous indignation over a song that is SO HOLY, why, it was CHOSEN TO SELL COMPUTER EQUIPMENT.
Bluenorthwest
(45,319 posts)I don't care what the song was. Don't care if you hate the song, hate Lennon, don't care at all. None of that makes Cee Lo into anything other than the hypocritical hater he is. He should not get network shows, he should not get a gig at all.
Fuck him. Sorry. Fuck Cee Lo the hate monger.
SaintPete
(533 posts)it changed one line. The rest of the song remained intact.
It doesn't make it appropriate, but it doesn't require an over the top response, either.

(22,308 posts)Since the original lyrics were trying to show that secularism would be preferable to the religious strife which now exists.
Cee lo's change implies that somehow religions can coexist peacefully by all being true (even though many believe exact opposites). All religions can't possible be true unless you commit genocide on all the followers of religions who don't agree with you, much like what has been tried for a couple thousand years now. Only when you wipe out the other religions can the one that is left be considered "all religions true".
It was a major blunder and he deserves to be criticized for it. He should have just done a different song.
SaintPete
(533 posts)the WHOLE song was changed by one line. and all palpitations that follow are warranted.
Of all the things to worry about, you pick this?
Motown_Johnny
(22,308 posts)and all I did say is that it was a mistake and that he should have done a different song
edit to add: Just for the record, changing "no" to "all" can easily flip the entire meaning in a statement.
SaintPete
(533 posts)was started in response to a post that claimed "the entire meaning of the song" was changed.
One line was F'd up, the rest of the song was intact, and the message was still pretty clear. In fact, the "no religion, too" lyric was more conspicuous in its absence than it has been through multiple voices repeating the line over many years.

(45,319 posts)Can't stand Greene and his stupid rendition of a great song just solidifies my opinion. An arrogant, nasty and prejudiced bully. Any product or show with him on it will not get my custom, he's anti gay and a seething hate monger. Fuck him and all of his hate filled kind.
Of course many will adore a bigot anyway. Other bigots.

(20,043 posts)what did I miss? What did Cee-Lo do or not do?
Not a fan here...just wondering.
Bluenorthwest
(45,319 posts)He is a bigot and a hypocrite of the first order. Hates on gay people, then sings 'express yourself' songs. 'be free' he signs, and then calls someone a faggot.
Fuck that fucking hate monger. I hate a hypocrite, and he is one. Of course he went all pro religion, he's a hater of gay people.
Fuck him and his promo people and his mama.

(20,043 posts)he was like that. I know who he is, I watched the singing show (can't remember the name) a few times he was on there. I think he's a little weird, but had no idea he was so hateful.

(20,043 posts)his comments were kinda gross--the ones he[cee-lo] said at the concert.
The comments aimed at the person that called him gross...were mean and nasty
I really had no idea he was a shithead. I'm really not a fan...and now I never will be.

(45,319 posts)GaGa is not. See the difference? He used a song not his own to say that which he wanted it to say which was the opposite of what the composer intended.
Puke on all haters, such as Ce Lo Greene.

(4,876 posts)Shitting on John Lennon and the people who loved him, is kind of fucking stupid.
Had Lennon not been shot in the back by some asshole that song would have never been used in a commercial and Lennon would certainly have had some issues with C-man's ""interpretation" of the song.
But hey he's dead, no need to honor his legacy. It's not like he was an important uniting figure, an advocate for freedom and peace, it's not like he inspired millions of people and millions of musicians all over the world. It's not like his legacy hasn't survived for 3 generations. It's not like he and the Beatles opened a new world of pop music that FOREVER CHANGED THE FACE OF THE ENTIRE PLANET.
Yeah fuck John Lennon.

The only people you told to "fuck off" are the ones defending John Lennon. It's a really clever way to endear yourself to liberals. Almost as inspiring as Lennon himself
