Strategy of Romney's pick of Paul Ryan--Conspiracy?

I think it was obvious that whoever wants to be President needs to win FLORIDA. But why did Romney pick Paul Ryan knowing the entire hoopla over the controversial cutting of Medicare? He is basically conceded Florida and without picking Rob Portman, I think Ohio probably goes to Obama too.

Here is my conspiracy theory. Romney doesn't expect to win the Presidency as poll numbers suggested Obama's recent actions regarding women contraceptives and the Latino immigration issue have given Obama much needed room to win in Florida.

I think the Romney pick of Ryan is a pandering to the Tea Party base. Do they expect to win the Presidency? Probably not so they are hoping that pandering to the Tea Party base will "turn out the vote" in states where there are close Senate races. The Senate and Congress are the focus now since the GOP knows they can't overcome people's dislike of Romney.

Right now the close Senate races which can determine if the GOP regains control of it depends on states like Wisconsin, Virginia, Montana, MIssouri, Nevada, and North Dakota all with conservative tendencies especially if the Tea Party folks there walk to the polls like an organized zombie fest.

I think the GOP will likely retain the House too.

My evidence for this:

He's desperately wanted to be president for years. you don't do this unless you really, really want it.

Citizens United.

Dem voting purges in state after state.

He thinks that his way to win is the above and getting the base out.

The billionaires that are running things have never liked Romney and they don't trust him. They see Ryan as a boy who will do as he is told. Has has been a reliable stooge for 14 years in the Congress, and they like the idea of him being their "next Reagan".

If you accept the premise that the billionaires largely dictated the VP choice, then it stands to reason that this decision was not made only a week ago, as the fawning media accounts would have us believe. It is far more likely that Romney struck a bargain some time ago on not just the VP choice, but the big game plan, which is to end up with Ryan as being the real point man.

The billionaires would be perfectly happy with a 16 year term with Ryan basically being their guy, as long as Romney doesn't get any ideas of his own.

So Romney is probably OK, but nonetheless, I would be watching my back if I were Romney. After Nov 6, he is expendable.

There are lots of ways President Obama can win without Florida.

He has never been in a position where he couldn't buy his way into whatever he wanted. I think he is honestly confused at this point and not even sure what to make of the new Ryan/Romney ticket.
