Paul Ryan Announcement - Question

I was out of the house all day Saturday, not near a radio or TV, so I had to "learn" about Ryan being picked as Mitten's running mate much later on.

Was there any mention on what Paulie was planning on doing with his house seat? Is he going to give that up to run or do a Lieberman and run for his current office at the same time? I always thought that hurt the democrats - not fatally - but to have your running mate keep a "just in case" option in the back pocket always seems like a sign of not too much confidence.

1. They always run for both, Ryand is no exception.

He has a better chance of holding the seat than some no name (R). I am not sure how WI picks a replacement, but if the impossible happens and Ryand were to win both I am fairly certain his seat would go to another (R).

you run for both and if you win the WH they have a special election to fill your seat.

6. In 1960, LBJ ran for reelection to the Senate and for VEEP on the same ballot in Texas.

A special election for his vacated Senate seat gave the world John Tower. Republicans have held that seat ever since.
