about it, this is probably their "best shot moment" for slashing government as we know it (except defense, of course). 2016 we will have once again pulled the country back up. Many rich republicans are getting old and may not be able to wait to sap more out of the economy.

I, personally, am glad it wasn't Rubio

I feel very confident that Obama/Biden will soon unleash their considerable powers in the form of campaign ads against this unholy duo.

I'm not worried........not very much. Nor am I complacent.

I'll bet your weekend was awesome!

didn't care one iota about politics. Not one. It was horrible. I finally found a young guy whose closest link to politics
was that he loved the Daily Show.

Just made me think....we here worry and fret AND cheer sometimes when some little thing happens. The vast public doesn't
hardly even know that there's an election coming up. Makes you think that if you are a strategist - you should start a
campaign ad...."This is Barack Obama. He is president now." LOL

To answer your question, I'm even happier than I was four years ago.

When McCain picked Palin, I described it as "taking his own trump card off the table." His most legitimate criticism of Obama was that he was too young and inexperienced, and he nullified it with a running mate who was younger and even MORE inexperienced!

Mitt has made the exact same mistake. He's centered his campaign around his private sector experience and claimed that Obama has failed because he doesn't have any. However, his choosing Paul Ryan for VP says that he's willing to leave us with a president who has even LESS private sector experience if something should happen to him!

Finally, we get to have the national conversation about the two diametrically opposed plans for the country - trickle down BS vs bottom up pump priming - and where the drivers of this economy really are (and it ain't tax breaks for the 1%).

Now the LIV in the RW will be face to face with the core of what they keep voting into office under the guise of their social issues (abortion, gay marriage) and what the policies being enacted (or attempted to) REALLY mean out here in the real world.

Here is a really, really great down and dirty on this Friday-at-midnight panic announcement (I bolded my favorite):

Although Paul Ryan undoubtedly has some political and personal skills and will inject some much-needed energy into the Romney campaign, it isn't too hard to figure out why Democrats are elated about his selection. First, let's look at what picking House Republican Paul Ryan didn't do.

1. It didn't help Romney with women.

2. It didn't help Romney make any inroads with blacks, Latinos, Asians, or Muslims.

3. It didn't boost confidence in a Romney administration's preparedness to handle foreign policy, a la Dick Cheney.

4. It didn't force the Obama administration to defend new territory.

5. It didn't deflect attention from Romney's tax returns/avoidance.

6. It didn't help Romney move to the middle.

7. It didn't isolate Romney from the wildly unpopular House Republicans.

And let's look at what picking Ryan did do:

1. It forced Romney to try and fail to distance himself from Paul Ryan's budget plan. Romney now says he would have signed Ryan's budget, and he therefore owns a budget plan so unpopular that people don't even believe it was actually proposed.

2. It locked Romney in to a plan that raises taxes on lower middle class folks while effectively zeroing out his own taxes.

3. It locked Romney into a program that voucherizes Medicare, and twins him with a candidate who wants to privatize Social Security.

4. It, therefore, weakened Romney substantially with white working class voters and with seniors, who both hate the Ryan Budget with a white hot passion once they learn the details of it.

5. It saved the Obama administration the cost and difficulty of tying Paul Ryan and the House Republicans to Mitt Romney.

6. It created the best conceivable opening for Democrats running in difficult heavily-white states and districts.

7. It turned a battle of personalities, which polls showed Romney was losing narrowly, into a battle of ideologies, which polls show Romney will lose decisively.

who think that more money poured into a campaign means more votes. It takes talent to run a successful political campaign in this country. I see no talent behind the Romney/Ryan campaign, just a bunch of rich guys making a huge bet.

This could be McGovern/Shriver all over again but in reverse.

Having said that, I think we have a good chance of beating them.

Romney is disliked for being a secretive, above the rest of us type.

Ryan is attached to issues which could (should) scare off Independents, young people, women, and the elderly.

We've got work to do, that's for sure. Still, I believe we're up to the task.

would be Cheney/Rove puppeteering Bush II on steroids.

Thanks to tax return-gate, fortunately, the independents have been scared off already.

They'd not even bother to pretend it was otherwise either, since it's almost a given with the ticket.

Scary to imagine.

American's love Medicare. Americans hate intellectual politician. Americans hate political extremes.

Either Romney could not get anyone else to run with him or his bankster backers told him to stfu and take Ryan, because he will be good for hedge fund managers.

Remember, if Social Security and Medicare are "privatized" a lot of banksters stand to make a short term killing.
