That's the question for people who are fans of Ryan's budget.

(385 posts)kids of my mother (and my brother is a fuckup) so she'll probably be living in my basement. Maybe I can finish the attic and put her up there? She's from California and I live in Wisconsin. The basement might be too cold.

(63,773 posts)I told my youngest dtr not to put me in some expensive place, as long as it was halfway decent, it didn't have to be pretty. If I'm gaga it won't matter...

(37,364 posts)I cared for my mother in my home for a period of time before she died. My brother cared for my father. They had been divorced for decades. We did not consider it a burden but a responsibility to our parents. Believe me, I did not have the resources back then that I do now.
At issue should not be whether we live together as an extended family, but that the fruits of a lifetime of labor are being siphoned off at a time when medical care needs increase and during the part of life when work is generally not readily available to people of this age group. Do not trade off compassion and the nurturing environment of family as a cynical political tool and leave the real issue untouched.

(114,904 posts)but it's nice to know he'd welcome me with open arms. he's such a peach. Last year he moved back to Vermont from CO because I had a serious accident. He moved in with me for two months until I could handle things for myself.
Yeah, I know that's not the point, but I still feel lucky.
