Here is their magnificence in full flower at their dear friend's funeral.
I've seen it before, but many here probably have not..
If I believed in funerals, this would be my choice.

(103,856 posts)put quarters on the coffin..
He was the guy who went lane to lane in the "strike frame" to collect quarters from the people who did not get a strike in that frame..
It was a touching little thing, but it had to be explained to some people there who were not bowlers.. Don would have gotten a laugh from it

(42,223 posts)A three-day celebration of life--that's the way to remember someone! Later tonight, I'll drink a toast to my teetotalling family...
And I just heard the other week of someone being buried with his favorite bowling ball.

(33,688 posts)and he was only in his mid-40s. Though he was 100% Norwegian there were no things in life he loved more than Irish music and Guinness. We threw him one hell of an Irish wake at the best Irish pub in town, his pipe and hat at an empty chair at the head of the table. We drank and told "Pete stories," of which there were many, for hours. Everyone went home hurting less. Not a bad way to see a friend off to the great unknown.

I would've been happiest if the ENTIRE Closing Ceremony was a Monty Python festival. I, of course(!), whistled along with 'Bright Side" ... it's one of my very favorite tunes. The Olympics DESERVES the Lumberjacks! The Olympics DESERVES the Black Knight! The London Olympics should have been under the Ministry of Silly Walks. Every Olympics broadcast would have benefited from the lead-in: "And now for something completely different!"
For me, Monty Python gives meaning to the word "brilliant." In. Every. Sense. Of. The. Word.

(19,053 posts)I loved everything about this, down to the details of entertainers sending off another entertainer by using a phrase you probably won't hear at most people's send off!
We won't be here long. Enjoy each other.
