Tea Party Owes More to the Church of Satan Than to Jesus

http://www.theprovocation.net/2011/09/tea-party-owes-more-to-church-of-satan.html

Yes, this is a religous, right wing sight, but the article has plenty of ways to slit ryan's throat, because it clearly explains how his beloved Rand was closer to Satanism than what the Xtians like.

choice samples:

"Far from seeking to obscure the relationship between Rand's ideas and LaVey's, the modern Church of Satan admits it right up front on its website: "Objectivism, the philosophy of Ayn Rand, is an acknowledged source for some of the Satanic philosophy as outlined in The Satanic Bible by Anton LaVey."

1. Satan represents indulgence instead of abstinence!

This goes along nicely with Rand's statement that "the purpose of morality is to teach you, not to suffer and die, but to enjoy yourself and live." And it certainly squares nicely with the tea party's attitudes toward corporate excess. Don't raise taxes on the richest 1% of Americans, even if they do make nearly 25% of the money. Let them enjoy their excesses! Jesus, by contrast, violently confronted the excesses of his day by overthrowing the tables of the money changers in the temple. When it came to taxation, he didn't oppose it: He urged his followers to "render unto Caesar what is Caesar's."

It is shallow, short sighted, and lacking of any value. It's atheism for people so immature and insecure in their beliefs that they have want to shock and frighten others. I've read up on LaVey's Church of Satan, it's a pathetic joke. I'd have some respect for it it was a group like the Golden Dawn, or Crowley's Thelema, or Wicca that actually tried to promote some kind spiritual growth, but I have no use for atheists who hide behind the moniker of Satanism because they want to be cool or want to try and scare people. It fits the Tea Party well, immature, insecure children who have never grown up and realized they aren't the center of the universe.

Even the official church of Satan has tried to distance themselves from La Vey. The point is, we focus on the ayn rand, and use this to point out where Ayn Rand leads to.

I can remember thinking that this was more along the lines of Satanism rather than Atheism. Just knowing that LaVey's Satanism expresses selfishness as one of it's tenants is enough for me know that anybody that is a fan of Rand is just as bad as a Satanist. People can believe what they want to believe in, but don't hide it behind some false Christian patriotic bullshit.
