Demonoid domain for sale, and Pirate Bay is down....*Up Date*

"While the site's only tech admin was hopeful that Demonoid would return in some capacity following the DDOS attack, reports TorrentFreak, it appears that the towel has finally been thrown in on the popular torrent community."

AND
Pirate Bay went offline this morning.
The site says "down for maintanence", which is what Demonoid said for a long time until it was revealed that it was down for good.
I have one link to a site which is discussing the problem, but some posts are not reliable.

any other links to info. would be appreciated.

MPAA / RIAA Want U.S. to Help Quash The Pirate Bay

dated yesterday

The MPAA and RIAA have submitted their policy recommendations to Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator Victoria Espinel. In a joint submission the groups explain that despite the broad availability of legal content, online piracy is still rampant. The groups say that services including The Pirate Bay, Rapidgator, Turbobit, DepositFiles and PutLocker are piracy havens, and they urge the U.S. Government to help them quash these sites.

Not surprising. Porn makes more money, so maybe those folks will shift to that more successful, more lucrative market.

These things go in waves. KAT, fenopy, isohunt et al will pick up the traffic for a while. They'll take their turns getting whacked by the RIAA mallet and the other moles will pop back up. The torrent genie is long out of the bottle and without China-level web control will never be back in.

Funnily enough most of the advertising on these sites is from porn providers (and gaming sites). I'm guessing that more successful business model knows where the younger male traffic is.

And porn is a huge part of what file-sharing sites and torrent sites do.
