This Oprah Clip just now says it all......

Oprah Winfrey: "For anybody here who has an ancestor who didn't have the right to vote and you are choosing not to vote...you are dishonoring your family, you are disrespecting and disregarding their legacy, their suffering and their dreams."

............

I agree, women and minorities fought for the right to vote and i cannot stand people sitting on their ass and not exercising their vote.

I have a friend that has NEVER voted. She's 47 years old. I'm so disgusted I can't be around her at the moment.

5. Less than a hundred years ago, half of my ancestors didn't have the right to vote.

I always remember them when I vote.

I also remember a South African woman. When apartheid ended, she was in her nineties and for the first time in her life she could vote. She stood in a line for most of the day so she could vote - I'll repeat that she stood in a line for most of the day so she could vote.

Next Tuesday, I'll remember her, too.

9. However, you have to be up in years to say "all of mine".

Now most people can say at least their mother and even grandmother was born with the right.

When my mother was born, she was ineligible. Her first vote in a general election was for FDR. Something she was proud of.
Her grandmother was a suffragette. It wasn't that long ago.

6. I have shed tears every single time I have voted. And I'm now 63 years old. It always chokes me up

I have to hide my tears when I stand in line. I always think about the people who were beaten and killed just for wanting to vote. For that, I can never NOT vote. I feel like I owe it.

Every single person needs to vote. I never understand why some people just don't care.

GOTV! Thank you Oprah!

I asked the AA young man checking me out at the supermarket if he was registered to vote. He said no. My husband said, "there are black people who lost their lives trying to make sure he could vote." WTF is wrong with young people?!!

My son's mixed race g.f. is not voting!!
WTF is wrong with young people?!!

Oprah's speech put a lump in my throat.
