Maybe, at this point, nobody really bothers with fact-checking Trump much because they know that he just spews lies? But even then, he still needs to be debunked, otherwise it is letting him off the hook for his lies and the effect those lies have on other people. yes, it's improved from the shameful low of the 2016 campaign, but if you or i or most anyone else made a completely unfounded, patently absurd claim like that, it would never get airtime.

Uncritical coverage of anything and everything Republican has been a long standing problem that I don't know how will ever be fixed. Some outlets are better than others but even the "best" of the so-called "liberal media" are still rather problematic in terms of their largely uncritical deference to Republicans and pouncing on Democrats.

That seems to be the mantra of the GOP just about anytime they claim anything to be "fact". All I think of when I see these assholes in action is of Lionel Hutz (of The Simpsons), where upon being asked by the judge if he as any evidence, he responds, "Well, we have hearsay and conjecture...Those are kinds of evidence." That sums up the GOP.
