Barack and Michelle Obama are using their newly-acquired influence as movie and TV producers to open up a new front on the war with President Trump.
The former president and First Lady have acquired the rights to Michael Lewis' book "The Fifth Risk" under their multimillion-dollar Netflix deal clinched earlier this year that will see them producing films and series for the streaming service.
Lewis authored "The Big Short," a book that detailed the 2006 housing crash, which was subsequently turned into a 2016 Oscar-winning movie. His new book lays bare the apparent chaos and mismanagement at the Departments of Energy, Agriculture and Commerce during the transition from Obama to President Trumps administration.
The possible series based on Lewis book isnt yet a done deal, but its a project the former president and his wife is considering. Lewis revealed the news about the Obamas and his book in a podcast with Katie Couric on Thursday, Deadline reported.

(32,610 posts)I hope they do something like "The Big Short" because it made things understandable for the non-Wall Street people like most of us are. I recommend Jeff Bridges to play Cheeto, he'd be great!
He'd have to shave the beard and gain a little weight. But Jeff Bridges would be awesome. What do you guys think?

(3,818 posts)WHY THE SCARIEST NUCLEAR THREAT MAY BE COMING FROM INSIDE THE WHITE HOUSE
Donald Drumpfs secretary of energy, Rick Perry, once campaigned to abolish the $30 billion agency that he now runs, which oversees everything from our nuclear arsenal to the electrical grid. The departments budget is now on the chopping block. But does anyone in the White House really understand what the Department of Energy actually does? And what a horrible risk it would be to ignore its extraordinary, life-or-death responsibilities?
