This is about Claire but you can almost replace Claire and Josh for your candidate of choice. Either way it's spot on.
Listen up, hippies: November 6 is not the primary. This is a real-ass election day. You can whine about how youd like more choices or a viable third party or whatever, but if you are any type of lefty and you arent voting for Claire McCaskill, you are also a raging moron.
Your vote here matters. It carries real, heavy, possibly irreversible consequences. But yeah, you like to vote with your little bleeding heart, dont you? Well, dont worry, wimp! The good news is that you should totally be voting your conscience this time because your stupid conscience should be saying this to you: Good gravy, Josh Hawley must not win! Anyone but Josh Hawley!
And that means that your only real option is Claire McCaskill.

(1,900 posts)We don't always have the best candidates but they're always better than republicans. Google Evan Bayh's dad, Birch Bayh. Now he was a real Progressive. I had the pleasure of meeting him once and voting for him twice. I was genuinely appalled when he lost to Dan Quayle of all people.

(29,670 posts)We both know the GOP here would vote for Satan against Jesus if Satan had an R next to his name on the ballot. Otoh,I heard all summer long while working voter registration booths people saying they will vote for a third party because Claire didn't hand them a pony with their sixth birthday pizza party. In that case they need to be reminded that they should vote for societal good and not feel good-or maybe they deserve what they get.
The GOP will vote for Hawley. Unless you are the thirs party candidates family or very close friends you're probably a bit of an ass for voting against Claire. (Not you but someone who does it.)

(38,958 posts)but name calling and bullying will not generate more votes for McCaskill. To me it would be a complete turn off if I was on the fence and I will be sending the River Front Times (RFT or Right Front Tire) an email with to that end.
BTW both She and Biden were great at the Rally last night in Bridgeton. Even included a nice Motown Band.

(365 posts)To many liberals would rather lose unless they get a 100% pure candidate. These are conservative states folks!!!! States that Trump won not narrowly, but with big margins... I could see the point if this was California or Hawaii. Getting a dem out of Indiana that votes with my ideals 70% of the time is a great deal. Get out and vote, then push them to the left. You have to win first .

(707 posts)This kind of logic doesn't work on them. I've heard it all "voting for the lesser of 2 evils is still evil", "the green party doesn't spoil votes for democrats", "maybe the country deserves Trump, then they'll vote true progressives in", "Democrats are making up the Russia story to distract from their 2016 election performance", etc.
The thing is green party voters are not undecided voters. They're a rival political party who steals votes. They're not our friends, in fact they hate Democrats. I've talked to a lot of people. It's best not to waste our time trying to talk sense into them.

(49,945 posts)I have family throughout MO and I can't think of one who is even remotely a hippie. Even the most liberal ones.
I think the bigger problem is going to be those middle of the road Dems and independents that will cross over to the GOP side.

(29,670 posts)And the Ozarks. A friend used to live in one. She was a midwife. They sold really good nut butters.
The land is still pretty cheap so yes, you hear about the old school living in a commune type hippies in Missouri.
This is aimed more at the third party, wannabe crunchy types who want the perfect candidate but will never get that in Missouri so they vote third party or not at all. I met one this summer who refuses to vote for any of them because they didn't campaign at Schwagstock. He also refuses to vote on medical marijuana because it isn't going to be free or offered for recreational use. He wasn't the only one.

(49,945 posts)We've been canvassing for a few months and have been specifically targeting independent voters and erstwhile Democrats. I've met a wide variety of people. Never once did I think it would be a good idea to insult the person I'm trying to get to vote for our candidates.

(3,322 posts)ObamaCare doesn't get out of the Senate for a Vote without DINO's when the Dems had 59 (one of the Maine women senators gave us the 60th but then went on to vote against it for final vote if I remember right)
I love my DINO Senator Claire!! To imagine Akin running for re-election this year legitimately sends shivers up my spine.
