Emerson Poll: Close Governor races in Ohio, Oregon and Kansas.

A new set of Emerson battleground polls find the female vote continues to break for Democratic candidates in Ohio, Oregon and Kansas, creating a competitive US Senate race in Ohio, tight Governor races in Ohio, Oregon and Kansas- and a potential Democratic House pick up in Kansas.

In Ohio, US Senator Sherrod Brown (D) is at 49% with Jim Renacci (R) at 43%. Females are breaking for Brown 54% to 37% while males are breaking for Renacci 49% to 43%. In the Governor race, Richard Cordray (D) is at 49% and Mike DeWine (R) is at 46%, but females are breaking for Cordray 52% to 41% while males are breaking for DeWine 51% to 46%.

In Oregon, Kate Brown (D) has 47% and Knute Buehler (R) is at 42%. Among women, Brown leads 51% to 35% while males break for Buehler 48% to 42%.

Kansas shows less of a gender divide but it still exists. Kris Kobach (R) is at 44% and Laura Kelly (D) is at 43%. Female voters are slightly breaking for Kelly 45% to 41%, while males are breaking for Kobach 48% to 41%.

But despite not a lot of polling, Brown has held a steady margin over Buehler, and the five points in this Emerson poll is one of the larger leads I've seen. Apparently, Oregon women are not quite convinced by Buehler's message that he'll protect their health care better than an actual woman.

While both parties' registered voters are showing similar ballot returns (Democrats have turned in 27.4% of their ballots, Republicans 27%), there are more registered Democrats than Republicans in Oregon. Brown won't cruise to a landslide victory, but I expect she will retain the governorship.

...don't draw early conclusions on Tuesday evening.

Multnomah county (Portland metro area) typically reports late. the first bunch of visible results will be a mixed bag at best, and then around 10pm we'll see an outpouring of Democratic votes on ballot measures and statewide races, including the governorship.

i've been through this cycle before -- wondering if my state's electorate had been subverted by nazis while i wasn't looking, and then late Tuesday night i find out it was just a dream -- an awful, ugly, nightmare of a dream fueled by rural fascists in central and eastern Oregon, but a dream nonetheless.

based on what i've seen so far, i would be quite surprised if Gov. Brown isn't re-elected.

DeWine is throwing everything he can at the TV hoping something will stick. There's about half a dozen repuke ads to every Dem ad.
