IIRC the report will go the sitting AG. That would be Sessions, but as he's recused it will go to Rosenstein. Or if Rosenstein gets fired, it will go to whoever Trump puts into Rosenstein's position.
Mueller cannot legally publish his report. But could he publish a one-page report? A press-release?
"It is the finding of this investigation that there was cooperation between members of the 2016 Trump presidential campaign and agents of a foreign government to manipulate the outcome of the 2016 General Election. For further details please consult the full report."
This could mean anything.
The collusion of Carter Page with unnamed FSB-agents and of George Papadopolus with the russian agent Mifsud and of Trump Jr. and Kushner with the russian agent Veselnitskaya (who's officialy an indepent lawyer but in practice somehow works for the Russian Interior Ministry) are already well-documented and public knowledge.
This kind of press-release could refer to old allegations, it could refer to new allegations. It could mean anything.
But... it would create political pressure to keep the report from getting buried.

(22,100 posts)deserve it. No one has any right what so ever to block this report (or reports, etc.) from the American public. We've been speculating on it/results of it for far too long and we deserve answers that either party has NO RIGHT what so ever to block. Period.
I'm tired of this dragging on and on, I'm tired of the stupid games that rump and cronies are playing, I'm tired of the cheating, lying, stealing, and other crap. Tired!

(13,564 posts)wouldn't dare. Except that that is exactly what he does. He'll probably do it anyway, since it's gonna be unfavorable to him. It'll be, you can't have it because I'm president and your not!

(22,100 posts)they are investigating rump and cronies for crimes committed during election etc. Mueller seems like he's been around the block for some time and would have a way to avoid having this get buried. Or at least I'm fervently hoping he does.

(5,524 posts)If we take the House, we can investigate properly in the House Committee previously "led" by Nunes. We know that Adam Schiff is itching to get his hands on subpoena power.
Perhaps they could subpoena the whole report. Perhaps they could simply recreate it by getting access to all the same information.
Either way, the political calculus of trying to bury it changes a great deal in that scenario. Why take the political risk of dragging it in a slow roll towards 2020 if it is going to come out anyway. Besides, the simple act of burying the report would really give Schiff even more righteous political capital to investigate.
