Disabled veteran knocks MSNBC crew for blocking handicapped spots at polling site

A disabled Air Force veteran this week voiced frustration with an MSNBC news crew for blocking handicapped parking spots outside of a polling site in Houston.

"Went to vote, and found this waiting for us," James Berrie, who has multiple sclerosis, wrote in a widely shared Facebook post. "The only van accessible spot and they’re filming in it. We asked them to move, pointed out how it was wrong, then went to vote, because it takes time to load up. But came out and still there. Not even packing up, still getting ready for their shot."

Berrie told a local CBS News affiliate that the MSNBC crew "kept coming back like, 'we’ll move in two minutes.' "

“'We’ll move in like three minutes. We’re going live. We’ve got a shot. We’re going live in like three minutes. We gotta do this,' and we’re just like, 'No. You have to move. It’s not right. You know it’s not right,'" Berrie told the outlet.

MSNBC reporter Mariana Atencio later apologized on Twitter for the incident.

Call the cops on 'em. Clear them out. I don't care if it's MSNBC. I want people with disabilities to have full access to voting places.

.

It's perhaps the least threatening ticket a LEO can issue.

They can just place the ticket on the windshield of the car.

My daughter was in a nearby town's court, because some guy ran a stop sign and caused her accident.

Sitting there, we saw 4 or 5 cases, at over $400 a pop! Talk about an easy money-maker!

Set a camera tripod right on top of the huge handicap logo, as if it were their private spotting marker.

They should be fined by police and reprimanded by their employer. Any of us certainly would be!......

First, sensitive to the disabled. Second, aware how it can be used again and again. Just idiotic.

They apologized and did the right thing but, geez.

And let them know what I think about their actions. There is no reason for them to take the handicapped spaces

Let me guess, everyone should be fired and mSNBC sued.

"

Thank you all for your support. This has gotten bigger than I thought, but that is a good thing. People are talking about this, having the conversation. Please keep going. If you see something, say something," he wrote.

Thank God someone is working to stop this scourge of media trucks parking in disabled spaces. Next time I see someone parking in a restricted space without a sticker I'm going to punch them right in the face.

Apologies don't mean shit when spoken after the fact. The crew got
what they wanted and went on to ignore the rules somewhere else.

The camera being set up right on top of the handicap symbol looks
deliberate and is particularly offensive.
