Yesterday my aunt, reminded my family that 25 years ago yesterday, that my /our nephew and her beloved son died from Reyes Syndrome, I was heart broken again...................of that reminder.
I am not looking for anything on this post for our grief>
I am here to remind everyone that there are shots that must be given to protect yourself and your children from deadly diseases and the public, and if anyone thinks that not getting vaccinations are a joke .............they are not. I realize some will post that aspirin has been linked to the syndrome, that is not the point, the vaccination is the point............thank you

(20,044 posts)It seems the later you get "childhood" diseases, the worse they are. I don't know why. A friends daughter got chicken pox as a teenager and she had blisters EVERYWHERE, including inside her mouth and rectum. a male friend of mine is sterile and they think it's because of getting mumps when he was in college.

(51,432 posts)after I found out I was exposed and knew there was a 2 week incubation period. That made it less severe. I gave it to my boyfriend and he didn't get the shot and had over 500 pox. He never checked about sterility since neither of us wanted kids and I already had myself sterilized. I also got mono in my 40s and had it for 6 months since they couldn't properly diagnose it...also didn't miss a day of school (the district refuses to get subs if they can't afford it or they can double up classes) and I weighed 85 pounds! I got pneumonia constantly and almost died due to dramatic internal blood loss (also worked while sick for two weeks and it developed). No one realizes all the crap teachers have to deal with...and for very little pay.

(20,044 posts)8 years were pretty good, but my 9th year was really difficult. One of my favorite students died of a brain tumor (no, I'm not kidding) and I went into a deep depression. I had to take some time off. I hated my principal and decided to seek employment elsewhere after the end of the school year. I tried to get a teaching job again a couple of years later, and the asshole principal blackballed me. So that was that. Went out into the business world, learned bookkeeping and that's what I've done for the last 20 years. I miss the kids, but I don't miss the unsupportive, motherfucking administrators.

(51,432 posts)no matter what school I went to. I was blacklisted. I had to change careers since art related careers don't exist in the real world and I wanted a job that had a union. I didn't know how much they were harassed until it was too late. They were very blatant about it too, even saying in front of the entire staff that union reps are targets for all administrators. Eventually I was getting sick so often that I had to stop teaching altogether before I could collect early retirement, etc. Now I am on the ACA with subsidies and have two preexisting conditions, one is very serious too. The only thing I miss are the funny and sweet things some of the kids did, and I definitely do not miss the parents or administrators or the district's school board (schools are a business and I learned that really fast...$$$ matters, not the kids).

(3,433 posts)Not only do vaccines protect those who are vaccinated, it ensures the safety and health of those who are medically unable to be vaccinated. "Herd immunity" is being compromised due to ignorance and exploitation by narcissists with a public profile. It's disgusting. There is no excuse for anyone to suffer from preventable virulent disease in 2018.
I recently moved back to my home town and I am having a hell of a time finding a pediatrician for my daughter. Every practice I call wants to review her medical record in entirety before accepting her as a patient. I hold no allusions as to why this is happening. The doctor dont want unvaccinated patients in their practice. I am required to hand over my child complete medical record for review to people not involved with her care. I protest and am told they will never accept her as a patient. I have waited for 3 weeks for two different practices to review her chart. I am completely and totally uncomfortable with the process. I have signed no HIPAA agreement. I have no guarantee that the records will be returned and the records are about an inch and a half thick. All because far too many people dont vaccinate.
Its infuriating

Every member of my family gets vaccinated without fail!
