BY AVERY ANAPOL - 11/04/18 07:22 AM EST
White House counsel to former President Nixon, John Dean, delivered a sharp public rebuke of President Trump, calling the current president evil.
Dean tweeted that Trump makes the long nightmare of Watergate seem like a brief idyllic daydream.

The former White House counsel became a key witness for prosecutors during the Watergate scandal after pleading guilty to one count of obstruction of justice.
Dean has criticized Trump before, but his comments have largely focused on the special counsel investigation and possible legal troubles plaguing the Trump administration.

OP
I have for decades felt strongly that Nixon was just a stepping stone to get us to, "here"...

A rally in Charlotte, N.C., last week. President Trump enjoys a herolike status among women who say he is fighting to preserve a way of life threatened by an increasingly liberal Democratic Party. Doug Mills/The New York Times
Rachell Marks, 59, who works in car sales in Billings, Mont., said she would continue to support Mr. Trump because she believed he told the truth. Sofia Jaramillo for The New York Times

He charms his cult. That charm represents a large portion of his power and how he has managed what he has.

to what's happening on the right today. Some of the same people are still involved, but he speaks of why the people in his books behaved the way they did, not just recording their actions, in a way that offers important understanding.

... the PTB knew he was a corporate favoring crook. See Allende... And Watergate is just the name for whatever violation(s) Nixon would be busted for, they knew he would do something, "wrong", as to what was just a matter of time. And the, "Silent Majority", became numb to continued assault upon campaigns, ie... letting the corporates dictate national policy and vilifying those that sought moderation/fairness between corporations and people.
And then Atwater, Stone, Rove, et al... Citizen's United... one fed the other.

Not a big fan of Mr Dean, but he's got this one right, IMO.
