My oldest child graduates high school in 2020 and he'll be turning 18 just in time to vote in that election. That's going to a be huge year. Plus, 2020 is just a cool number.

We should have been winning consistently enough all along that in order to remain competitive the Republican Party never became either completely corrupted or dominated by extremists. Its takeover was only made possible by corrupting our elections, legally and illegally.

The only way we can't win at least the house, and we would win the senate too by popular vote if it were properly counted, would be because of a badly warped electoral system in which not only can Republicans win seats by far fewer votes, but in which where people are voting can skew it all even further. Plus of course, the other, illegal forms of right wing election theft.

If this caused us to lose, it'd create a new national awareness that our democracy's electoral system has been so badly corrupted that it has been effectively disenfranchising a majority of the electorate and had likely cemented in minority right-wing control through 2032.

And then we'd have crowds like that all over the nation as gerrymandering cases came to the fore.
