Technicians scrambling to fix voting machines in South Carolina county after they’re caught changing votes

TANA GANEVA 06 NOV 2018 AT 10:05 ET

South Carolina voters Tuesday found malfunctioning machine changing their vote, reports WLTX.

Technicians in Richland County, South Carolina, were desperately restarting the voting machines to fix the problem.

According to WLTX, upwards of 30 technicians are working to fix the machines, after voters noticed that their votes were swapped out for the opposing party.

Other malfunctions, with cords and non-functioning outlets, also made voting difficult.

Is this yet another instance of voting machine malfunctions that "coincidentally" happens to favor Republicans, either by only flipping Democratic votes or by flipping all votes but only in solidly Democratic districts. Funny how that almost always seems to be the case.

In Texas Republican straight party line votes got lost, but Democratic straight party line votes were switched to Republican; result, net gain for Republicans. Where are the instances of machine "errors" favoring Democrats?

If you were going to program a voting machine to change votes, you wouldn't be stupid enough to let the voter see it.

Most likely explanation: badly calibrated screens by patronage election workers.

If it is all bad calibration, than reported errors should randomly favor and disfavor all parties without any clear pattern.

That may be true, we here may only hear about malfunctions that hurt Democrats. But I strongly suspect that somewhere Republicans must be complaining about malfunctioning machines also when it hurts their side. That is something that shouldn't be all that hard for some good reporters to determine.

And I'll add this. Any concern about rigged voting machines is no excuse for not voting. We know we lose when we don't show up to vote. Vigilance at the polling booth catches many errors.

Freepers are also complaining of voting machines switching votes for a Repub candidate to the Dem candidate.
